I've seen several requests to have a Lenovo G500 whitelist removal but unfortunately such files have either been deleted or have not been put in the database supplied for easy access for other users.

I am looking for a removal of the Lenovo G500 whitelist.

The laptop has a Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter that I want to replace.
I think the PC ID of the card is:

Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_060914E4&REV_01\4&18901DAC&0&00E1 with the following status: 0x0.
(I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver in desperation several times but now I've decided to do away with such a cruddy card from a cruddy company).

My BIOS is 78CN19WW(V1.07)
And the backup file is in my Skydrive that I've enabled for public viewing and editing:
http://sdrv.ms/1bBofe1

Please reply as soon as possible if you need any more information or if the link does not work.

Thanks in advance,

I'm sorry, I followed the instructions (created a USB-Boot with DOS) but when I type "flash.bat" I get:

Error 252: Image file "backnwl.bin" not found

I've checked and I put all the files into the USB, even that file and it exists in the USB but for some reason it must be not detecting it or something like that.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks again in advance.

I've noticed that Lenovo has updated the BIOS to version 2.01 (78CN23WW).
I am still on BIOS version 1.07 (78CN19WW).

Should I update my BIOS to this new version and then back it up and provide the link so that a flash file could be made?
Or should I just stay on the previous version?

I've tried using a different USB stick to go to DOS (The first was a PNY 16GB stick and the second was a Sandisk 16GB stick) and I've tried using the other USB drives on the laptop but I still get Error 252: Image file "backnwl.bin" not found.

I also installed an additional 4GB RAM stick so now I have 8GB RAM and not the default 4 GB RAM the laptop comes in but I doubt this would cause any issues. I have had to change boot to Legacy and then set priority to Legacy first (otherwise it would select UEFI first) to allow the laptop to boot to USB, otherwise it just boots like normal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've made another backup of my BIOS, although I don't think that was the problem in the first place. I'm kind of desperate in removing the whitelist on my Lenovo G500.

The link is here:

http://sdrv.ms/1ikr2et

I've yet to refresh or factory reset my laptop but if that will help so that I can remove the whitelist for anyone knowledgeable with flashing BIOS then please let me know if it will improve my odds (I will have to backup some of my files). I am on Windows 8.1, which really exacerbated the problems I am having with my wireless card which motivated me to purchase a new Wireless card (Its an Intel Centrino 6235 Wireless/Bluetooth card, if that helps)

I've searched far and wide within Bios-mods.com and Google (and even that forum.techinferno.com site) and have yet to find anyone with the same error as stated in the error that showed up with the file that Sovem submitted (as in it cannot find backup.nwl even when I see it clear as day on the USB I use to boot to DOS). I've even tried downloading the file twice to see if it may have been corrupted or not but it resulted in the same Error 252 nonsense. Other users with the same model laptop have seemed to have no problem so I have absolutely no idea what is causing this error

Really desperate for some help. Thanks again for anyone viewing this thread.

I am requesting for some help in removing the wi-fi whitelist that my laptop, a Lenovo G500 (not G500s) has.

The download Link for the Bios is:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/download...D=DS036474

My BIOS is 78CN23WW(V2.01) and like it says, I am on 2.01

I am afraid I don't know how to check the PCI ID of my wireless card but if someone can show me a link or a program that can do so I am willing to provide it (I'm afraid that in the thread to do this requests it doesn't teach you how to do it for those like myself that aren't too tech-savvy).

Under Device Manager it says I have a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter with a driver of 6.30.59.87. I tried looking for information from Broadcom's and Lenovo's websites but I couldn't find anything that looks like an ID. I have an Atheros Ethernet card if that helps. I've been scouting how unrealiable Broadcom wireless cards are and I want to get rid of it ASAP for an Intel one that also includes Bluetooth (as the Broadcom does not have Bluetooth)

The Backup of my BIOS is:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4eqdi034g3eiaq...AKK_64.ROM

I also have just two quick questions:

1. I am on Windows 8 but if I flash my BIOS, install the wireless card and then upgrade to 8.1, will it affect my card or BIOS? Will I have to flash it again or will it brick my laptop? Is it safe to do?

2. If a new BIOS version comes out, what should I do? If I update the BIOS, will it affect the wireless card? Will I have to flash the BIOS again? Will it brick my system? Should I prevent myself from updating the BIOS version?

Thank you to anyone in advance who can help me resolve this situation. Please reply if you cannot access my backup file on Dropbox (Dropbox has been acting funky for the past few days for me

Thank you very much for helping me!
I booted to DOS and got this message (ERROR 28-please see dropbox link). When I pressed ENTER it showed like it was installing something (several lines and they got to 100%) and it succeeded. I opened the USB and now a new Notepad file shows "ERROR". Is it safe to install the card? Was I suppose to change a setting on my BIOS?
