Request - HP Proliant ML330 G3 to support SL7AE Processor(s)
#1
New to the forum, trying to follow the rules as best as possible. If this thread is in the wrong place, my apologies.

The long and short of it: I have a couple of SL7AE's I'm recycling from a trashed machine. I have a Proliant ML330 G3 server, that is capable of supporting dual socket Xeons... but only 3.06 GHz @ 533 MHz fsb or 2.8 GHz @ 533 Mhz fsb. When I pop in the SL7AE (both or single), it recognizes the processor(s), tells me exactly what they are, the speed they supposed to be, and that they are indeed 533 MHz fsb, but won't use them...classifies them as unsupported. I have the most up-to-date bios from HP/Compaq, but no joy. The processors came out shortly before the last revision of this bios.

-bios link:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp31001...p31457.exe
-possible bios with cpu support (same chipset):
http://www.supermicro.com/products/mothe...DE8-GG.cfm
-whats happens: I.e. It doesn't boot / it shows an error (which? post a picture)
a link describing the error: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/ProLiant-Se...1lfmlVdWVo
-screenshot from aida64>motherboard>cpuid
No screenshot, (everything is grayed out and blank in cpuid except for obvious stuff) but here are the specs http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quick...614_na.pdf
-CPU spec code
Two matching SL7AE (http://ark.intel.com/products/27280/Inte...33-MHz-FSB)

Granted this machine is ancient, but for the purposes needed (file server and backups), and the very little budget I can justify (read: none), I could really use the support of these dual processors. Better than in a landfill, right?
Cheers
