ASUS P7P55D-E Deluxe
#1
Hello!

I'm new around here so I'm not sure if this is the correct forum section to post this kind of threads. Move it if required, thanks Smile

This is my situation: I have an ASUS P7P55D-E Deluxe board. It has one Marvell 88SE91xx controller (BIOS version 1.0.0.1025). Today I tried to update to version 2.2.0.1125 (I downloaded the file from here). I ended up with a bricked controller: the configuration settings are still available on the bios menu but the controller is not responding. The controller bios is not displayed and hard drives connected to it are not present. I also noticed that after the fail update, if the controller is enabled on BIOS, my motherboard takes longer to startup (10 seconds longer), the ASUS EZ Flash app takes ages to scan for storage devices and windows 7 logo hungs a few seconds when booting.

I tried reflashing my motherboard BIOS to older versions (1301 and 1504) because those were supposed to update stuff related to Marvell's controller but it didn't work.

Code:
P7P55D-E Deluxe 1301 BIOS
Fix some ODD may not be detected by Marvell controller

Code:
P7P55D-E Deluxe 1504
1. Improve memory compatibility
2. Improve system stability
3. Update CPU Level up function
[b]4. Update Marvell Option ROM[/b]
5. Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Even if I got my hands on the older Marvell BIOS (1.0.0.1025) I'm not sure if I could reflash it because I think the flashing software might not find the hardware.

Could anyone help me out with this matter? I'm really stuck :_(

Thank you in advanced! Big Grin

edit: I have contacted ASUS support, in case they know what to do but I don't have any hopes, judging by previous experiences :_(

I've just found here some firmwares that seem to be compatible with my controller but, as I expected, when I try to flash it the system seams to be non responsive and after a few minutes, the message "No adapter found!!" is shown.

Any ideas?

BTW, I also found the instructions on how to use the flashing app:

Code:
type 'go' to update Magni firmware
type 'go -y' to update Magni firmware with Yes included
type 'go -h -v' to display detailed help screen (this screen)
type 'go -e' to erase every sector that was written
type 'go -w' to erase the whole SPI chip
type 'go -a' to flash only autoload
type 'go -b' to flash only BIOS on MAGNI
type 'go -b -e' to erase only BIOS
type 'go -x' to flash only Firmware on MAGNI
type 'go -x -e' to erase only Firmware on MAGNI
type 'go -v' to show verbose message
type 'go -r' read back SPI content, no flashing
type 'go -aid 0' to update the specified the adapter 0

I get the same results with any of those commands ("No adapter found!!")

Asus has suggested me a good and cheap solution: substitute the bios chip with this one. I'm gonna try that ^__^

Bad news... swapping the BIOS chip did not help Sad

Well... it was worth a try. I suppose I need to swap the marvell chip but I don't know if I'm up for that task :/
