OK, Ive learned a little more... Now when I read it says "OverCurrent Protection actions! External short circuit/IC reverse or damaged!", a post online suggested that it may just be more than the programmer can handle, but there may be a way to remove that safe guard. Do you know of any way?

also since im trying to learn, you said i have 2 devices, EN25Q32B and W25Q16BV however, looking in the manual it says and on the chips themselves they say something different. Im asking because Im trying to understand and learn... U5 on the manual says W25Q32BVSSIG_SO8 and the chip itself reads Winbond 25032BVSIG 1230 and U6 on the manual says 16M W25Q16BVSSIG SOIC 8P and the chip reads Winbond 25016CVSIG 1227. So is it safe to say they are Winbond and what the actual chips say? Again, Im just asking because Im trying to learn, truly.

some people mentioned grounding pin C22, so im going to try that and see if I can read it after that. I'll report back later...

The SPI Programmer has to report the exact Chip name and description as It identify the PGM by an internal
Chip ID !
So You have more issuses than You think !
There are few probabilities You can read using MiniPro the on-board Chip and You haveto get a very good
Pomona Soic Clip !!!
Many times I soldered wires on Chip's pins directly to connect at SPI PGM !
I don't know your ablities so cannot suggest nothing, but man users have got a deal using cheaper CH341A
Programmer, look here :

thats what I was afraid of.... would this be an appropriate clip? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pomona-5250-test-clip-for-SOIC-8-Pin-SOP-EEPROM-24-25-93CXX-93C46-ICSP-F-F-USA/181541352406?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140407115239%26meid%3Da3d08cd7e91c41d6b526e747e3ce9401%26pid%3D100204%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D30%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D171178171301

My concern with desoldering the chip is, I dont have the right equipment for cleaning it off properly and soldering such small pieces. My Soldering station is fine, but I just started messing with electronics in this manner to be honest, so I've never taken a chip off the board and got it back on. All choose all these items from those other pages about what to buy. Im guessing I didn't read all the post or might have messed some in there. Thanks for your help. Now I need to step back to figure out my next plan of attack.

The clip shown in the https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...5#pid74575 post is the one that I bought... When I dont have a good connection, it just reads 00 00 00, but when its on there good and solid, thats when the Overcurrent error comes on. Thats why I was confused. Would another reader have a better chance at reading it? Or is it really on in the clip?

Well since the laptop is shot anyways, I dont have the fluxed solder wick brush thingy, nor the Bonkote brush. But I will try with what I have. Whats the worst that can happen right Smile I will post back once I get the nerve up to do this in a little bit ....

would this help? or is this basically something with these chips in Lenovo Laptops, that they really just need to be removed to flash correctly?

and whast about these clips vs the other ones I posted? I'm really just wanting to have the right equipment for the job, and I eventually want to go more in depth into this stuff and be able to learn how to read and write these all on my own as I think this stuff is truly fascinating and interesting and love the challenge.
