Dell Studio XPS 1640
#1
Would it be possible to unlock the bios for my dell studio xps 1640?

This is the link to the dell site where the latest bios can be downloaded:

That was quick! Thanks... I also posted in the CPU support Upgrades. I hope my request there does not conflict with this one.

Wow! I can't believe you got it! Thank you so much, I can't wait. I know this isn't the place for it but I would really like to be able to use a Q9100 Core 2 Quad with this laptop. I know the chipset supports it but I think the dell bios either blocks it or does not support it. Would I be able to submit your custom bios in the cpu support upgrades section?

The bios works! Lots of stuff unlocked. I could not get winphlash to work from windows though. It kept saying it could not load a particular driver. I've had a similar issue before because I upgraded my memory and dell blocked the ability to update bios and use other software like quickset unless I used their memory. I renamed the bios in the package to bios.rom and made a dos package on a usb stick which I had to do before just to get from the A14 to the A15 bios. Thank you for your assistance.
