Further NF4K8MC bus speeds
#1
Hi, I have a Foxconn NF4K8MC motherboard (originally F80M-2, removed from Acer e300 PC) that will only go up to 250MHz bus speed, limiting my Opteron 146 CPU to 2.5GHz. The OEM BIOS had no options at all for overclocking, so I flashed the Foxconn BIOS to enabled the options. I would like to go higher (up to 300MHz if possible). Could the BIOS be modded to allow this? Thanks.

Foxconn BIOS used:

Firstly , nice find = Flashing a retail bios to an OEM board is not something thats done lightly - We will add this success to our notes Smile

OK , ive edited the 250mhz option to read 260mhz. However i dont know if this actually changes the value or just the text (ie. it says 260 but sets it at 250)

Please can you test it? Try setting it on what now reads 260mhz and see what it actually sets too

Try at your own risk!

No problem.

Thanks for your effort. I flashed it, and although the 260MHz option does appear, it still only registers as 2.5GHz (250MHz x 10) in Windows. So it would appear that it only changed the text, rather than the actual setting.

Is there any other way to actually change the value?

Please stop bumping the thread, we take in about 30-50 requests a day. It would seem you probably won't be able to push 250 unless you start editing the CMOS register, but I'm not sure how easily that can be accomplished. I would add your retail BIOS find to the confirmed thread, make a note of the FSB idea, and then we can look into it further.

Thanks,
TheWiz
