Unknown Netbook fake Vaio N450 Jmicron Lan Slic none
#21
as I have experience, some of phlash16 has check mainboard rom type.
so I would like to ask flash it other phlash16 version.
that means, you can use phlash16.exe with /Force option on dos from http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/...6534210852&Step1=Notebook&Step2=Aspire&Step3=Aspire%205740&OS=722&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_6

or other old phlash16 versions.

To use phoneix crisis recovery, it needs to try and error about lots of different old and new phlash16 version.

These are all dmi string.

If you want it, you can change dmi from original to other one.
that means, after changing dmi string, you try to bios flash
but I don't think it will work.
because I think /force option will override the dmi setting.

http://benyouhuifile.it168.com/attachmen...PHLASH.rar

try to bios update on winflash windows based, but backup bios won't flash it, I guess.

choose advanced settings, remove all flag except "verify block after programming" and DMI string, if you want to change other name vaio or something.

thanks for tips. /Force likely does overide dmi strings.

winplash 1.6.9.6 and swinflash 2.0.3.4 i tried and gives error -151 the current device is not supported in the interface
and your link goes to some china site with no file.

I got it from china website for unsupported sony bios version.

the version is swinflash 2.0.3.4

http://benyouhui.it168.com/attachment.php?aid=860118&k=a1d36e5516d0794c5b61b88e3e19cd19&t=1298854050&sid=50kUHr

if it keep failing, means, I guess that your fake mainboard has different rom chip than what they supported bios update.

it is late to go bed.

YESS Thank You! i thought u had given up on it. but i see you are as persistent as me!.
i think i have to combine bioses from pt21 (or pt17 model) with ESP Corporation np11
(idea!: the dump from slic tool and the original pt21 bios. change modules ?)
seems it wants part id DEVEL35P (P) as part id ? (should i short the pins on the bios to force restore of backup?)
i found a log of winflash secure version 2.0.3 that shows interesting stuff.
also the flupdate from acer is definitely newer than the one in the original bios package of pt21

or if worse come to worse.. i can make parallel port eeprom flasher to do ful flash with PT21 ? ( i do soldering stuff so im not scared)

well, I give up. Sad

I think it is best way to make backup bios to flashable from phlash16.
it is hard to add missing flash information on the backup bios.

or unsoldering the bios chip and reprogramming with slic 2.1 mods and put back on, if you have eeprom program device and nice soldering skill.

I can't find flashable bios to the mainboard bios from internet at all.

sorry this is my story end.

Im a bit confused ,surely you can flash the P21 bios from DOS using phlash16 /Force ???

After all , the idea of the /Force is so it wont stop you Tongue

thanks cyberpark for interest.
well it gives me error: "part id not found in table of supported parts" during the phlash16 at bottom right shows (E) then (EB) when error comes to reboot. also shows Part Id Devel35P (p) but thats the developer rom for this board by soltech. this board is ESP not soltech branded so i suspect they produced the board and had a different oem rebrand (ESP if its even a real company or a pirater name for fake sony .. fake company?) ECS makes Do it yourself ixt kit ? or is it a shuttle xs35 similar board.

so hmm how to make PT21 flash to NP11 Phoenix securecore from different OEM same board as it has same chips (lan, wifi)

by the way!.. inside on mainboard says: AKS 3 NP11_REV31

while i was in the laptop (partial access the dam keyboard is not as easy as aspire one to remove with cred card) i shorted batt and pressed power (of course with no power or battery) then got the message on boot of reset and load defaults .. but that didnt relieve part id not found issue.
i read somewhere to short pin 5 and some other pin... i have to find page on how they recovered this chip(s?).
