id be really interested to know how you got the flashmap.ff OUT of the bios!!!
This could make Insyde CPU mods possible!

Sorry for my absenteeism. I had quite a lot things to handle.
I found the flashmap.fdf (fdf = flash description file) somewhere in the Internet. Its just an example how a file like this has to look like.
I gave it a try with ezh2o and luckily it worked.
While opening the flashmap.fdf with an editor like Vi you can see that it describes the whole structure of flash and bios. There is even an entry at witch position the microcode is stored.
I think we have to find out how to get the size of the bios and the position of the microcode. When we got that we could feed the flashmap with that data.
Maybe its even more simple as many bios sizes and microcodes are the same. Maybe the flashmap i posted it working without any modification.
I would give it a try but i ain't got the microcode for the turion cpus my notebook is using. Mybe someone else can either try it or give me the microcode.
Another idea: If we could extract the bios or flash description from another bios e.g. Ami or Award we could compare it to the standard flashmap I've found. Even more we could compare the flashchips that the bios is stored on eventually Insyde and e.g. Ami or Award are using the same. Then we could use their flashmaps!
Attached: Two pdf-files from Intel that are describing the fdf file format.
The intresting thing is that they are talking about Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) which Insyde is also using.
