Acer Aspire E1 572 black screen, needs bios flash
#1
Hi Folks,

I have an Acer Aspire E1 572 which has the black screen of death. What I have gleaned from forums is that I need to flash the BIOS with a USB drive in order to get it up and working again.

The problem is that the Acer BIOS downloads for this laptop are .exe files and not DOS. Is there a way of converting the .exe.

I have seen that there are unlocked BIOS for this model here on this forum but the links to them are dead Sad Any help is much appreciated. My Mrs is giving the the [censored] ache about it Wink

Thanks in adavance

Hello burglar,

You can use UniExtract to extract .exe files. If you need help with this, upload the BIOS image here or post a link to it and I will extract it for you.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for your comment. The bios can be found here: http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers

I have extracted the .exe already with winrar but I was unsure what to do with the content in order to get a .fd file

Thanks again

Hello burglar,

This is an Insyde BIOS image. You will need to ask BDMaster for help with this issue.
