[REQUEST] Lenovo B570 (44CNxxWW) Whitelist Removal

Laptop: Lenovo B570 1068AHU
Phoenix BIOS
Processor: Intel Core i3 2330M 2.20Ghz
BIOS Version: 44CN43WW

I just ordered an Intel AC8265 Wi-Fi card as a replacement to the slow Wi-Fi card that's installed on my laptop. Soon I found out there's a whitelist on my laptop's BIOS and here I am. I looked around the website and found several threads about removing the whitelist on this laptop like this one: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...al-Request. However, some links are broken and I honestly still have no idea on how I should proceed to remove the whitelist AT ALL. Can anyone please help? I really have no clue of how I'm supposed to even approach this, so I really need a good explanation of all this.

Thanks!

Hello Dudu2002.
Thank you very very much for that BIOS mod. I just flashed it and everything went just fine, longest ~10 seconds of my life though lol. Right after I went into the BIOS and I did find all the advanced menus and stuff, so I know it's on there. I am out of town right now and don't have the Wi-Fi card on me right now, but as soon as I come back home I'll test it and let you know.

Thank you very much!

Bios revision:44CN43WW
Bios Type: Phoenix
Bios Download Link: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/LENOVO-B-SERIES-LAPTOPS/LENOVO-B570-NOTEBOOK/1068/downloads/DS025905
Current card (This card meets Lenovo's Whitelist): Intel Centrino Advanced-N+WIMAX 6250, Model: 622AGXHRU
Current cards PCI ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0089&SUBSYS_13168086&REV_2C  (I don't have my original card anymore, only this Centrio card)
Card to be added: Killer 1550 Model: 9260NGW, P/N KILLER1550X.01

I tried to flash a modded BIOS to remove the whitelist for my B570 Lenovo Laptop so that I can use a different wifi card. I followed the instructions on this BIOS-Mod forum post:
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...od-Request

I would like to point out that the Dropbox links are now expired. Although, since it has been over six years that that is not unexpected for a post such a long time ago.

After doing some digging I was able to find what I think is a modded BIOS for my Laptop made by Camiloml at this link: https://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS/index.php?dir=Whitelists%2F&download=44CN43WW_NWL_DOS_ByCamiloml.exe

I also found what I think is a modded BIOS file for my laptop called: Lenovo_B570_44CN43WW_NWL.Rar. I can't find the website that is the source of the file, but I think I found it using a Google Search. I do know that I got it using the following download link: https://public.boxcloud.com/d/1/bb6wS0MvfbV3cZbx.... Neither of these was able to successfully remove the whitelist for my laptop. Below I outline in more details what I have attempted.

The Windows method did not work because it said that I got a message saying the program could not complete the flash because the BIOS version I was trying to flash is the same as the current BIOS version.

I also tried using both the DOS method and Windows flashing method. The DOS method seems to work, at least there were no error messages during or after the flash. After rebooting and I logged in and then shut down the computer and installed the WiFi Killer 1550 chip. Once I told the computer to boot I then would get the "104-Unsupported wireless network device detected" error.

After getting that message I tried to reflash my BIOS using the package that Lenovo provides and then reflashing with the BIOS made by Camiloml.

For some extra information read below:
As of today, I am now unable to flash back to my stock BIOS using the downloaded file from Lenovo's support page. Also When I try to use the Winflash.exe BIOS flashing method I get a BSOD that says Stop code: Page fault in nonpaged area, What failed: WinFlash64.sys

I am not sure why I got the BSOD since I successfully ran the WinFlash executable earlier today (with it failing once it got to the last step and told me that it could not flash the BIOS because the BIOS I tried to flash is the same as my current BIOS).

Another weird thing that happened yesterday is that after flashing the first time using the DOS method my wifi card somehow got disabled and if I opened the Windows 10 WiFi settings there was a toggle set to off for my WiFi and if I tried to click it would get reset back to off as soon as I closed the settings app. I fixed the issue by reflashing my original Lenovo Bios. Once I did that I logged back in and my WiFi adapter was re-enabled.

Thanks for all your help!

James

I am going through this thread and trying out the steps I know how to accomplish to see if I can get my laptop to accept a different WiFi card.

I will post updates as I test different suggestions.

I tried installing the Installer by Camiloml with my Windows 10 OS and it gave me an error. I restarted into my Windows 7 OS (Dual booting) and tried the Camiloml flashing executable; this time it worked and processed each step with no popup messages. After it finished the last step it restarted my computer. Once my computer had logged in I turned the computer off and plugged the WiFi card in and booted my computer. I got the 104 unsupported wifi card detected error message. From there I removed the WiFi card and was able to boot back into my Windows 7 OS.

The next step I took was to unzip the Lenovo_44CN43WW_NWL.rar file and run the WinFlash EXE. It got to the third step (Read old BIOS) and then displayed an error message: Fail: Flash BIOS is not an upgrade (same or older version number)!

After trying the above I loaded the DOS files onto a thumb drive I have formatted using the HP Flash storage tools to be a Windows 98 MS-Dos bootable disk. I booted the USB drive and entered the command-line code needed to start the flashing process. It completed successfully and gave me a message telling me the flash was complete and that my computer would restart in 5 seconds.

After rebooting and logging into my computer I shut down the computer and installed the WiFi card. Upon turning my computer back on with the WiFi card installed I got the same 104 unsupported wifi card detected error message.
