[REQUEST] BIOS unlock for Asus ROG Zephyrus M15 GU502LV
#11
Ha....that actually WORKED! Thank you @genius239!
You really need to make some sticky here that provides the more important info and guides.
So let's make it more clear for everyone so no confusions:
****************************************************************************************
If anyone like to indervolt with Throttlestop but experiencing the options there being greyed out after restart
even after disabling "CFG Lock" and "Overclocking Lock" in BIOS,this is what needs to be done:
****************************************************************************************
GO to: Advance >> OverClocking Performance Menu and DISABLE "OverClocking Feature" Save & Exit
UPSIDE:
1. You can freely Undervolt in Throttlestop,no more greyed out options and everything will remain after reboot(yay)

DOWNSIDE(if you can call it that):
1. The "Voltage Offset" in BIOS,for the once that still have it,that you can do up to -80mv WILL NOT WORK(who cares)
2. You can't do any Overclocking/Downclocking in BIOS(for the price of able to do it with Throttlestop) as it is disabled now,
though,for the concerned party who want's to mess with the memory timings,which is proven so far useless.
For example i7-10750H is designed to use up to 2933Mhz. Going higher then that didn't provide any good results that were
reported by users in this forum.
****************************************************************************************

I can confirm,by doing all that above the voltage options in Throttlestop remained accessible after multiple reboots.
This is the way to go from now on. Thanks again @genius239! ? ? ?

So ,does this old method is still valid in current platform? If you can confirm ,you shared experience is useful for other laptop users. As i mentioned ,i'm not a laptop user so i can't do a actual test ,i need user's feedback.

@genius239

I just confirmed that it's working and even made it more clear how to do it in my previous post.
So far(my BIOS is 312,i'm not sure on higher number is it still possible) by disabling the "OverClocking Feature"
the Voltage Options in Throttlestop are accessible(not greyed out like before),i did numerous reboots to test it.
The "CFG Lock" and "Overclocking Lock" in BIOS remain DISABLED(usually the "Overclocking Lock" gets enabled after reboot)
and the "Voltage Offset" in BIOS(that you can go up to -80mv only) on my end is ENABLED and set to 80 but Throttlestop doesn't show that it's undervolted already(before was showing it) means that the Boot Guard simply disables the undervolting in BIOS but not in Windows.
I didn't try to undervolt yet with Throttlestop but by my count,seeing that the options there are not greyed out and accessible
means that i can do it. So yes,the "old method" that you recommended still works.

@genius239

Just to make another confirmation if there is still any doubts.
Yesterday i thinkered with Throttlestop a bit and i still have to read up about how to navigate there i did what i was
familiar with. I offseted the Core Voltage to -80mv like what you can do in BIOS(just to be on the safe side).
Saved it,closed TS and restarted and the offset was present afterwards. The strange thing was,i didn't even had
to run TS on startup,which as far as i know it's what you suppose to do to preserve those voltages.
After restart,without running TS HWiNFO confirmed that voltage is offset to -80mv.
The "old method" still works here. We're in business ?
