Acer Travelmate 4502Lmi 533MHz FSB support

use spdtool to flash your ram there are guides to show you how .i cant show you how at the moment as my pc is bricked

That's strange, I've just installed my new ram and I've noticed that it's only running at 166MHz, like my old ram. I guess SPDtool is a good idea then! Big Grin

EDIT: Using this page http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware...dings.html as a guide, I set my ram to work at 267MHz, yet CPU-Z says that it's only running at 232MHz. Should I just keep increasing the speed until it starts reading as 266MHz?

Another edit: It turns out the "232MHz" is just the maximum currently supported by my ram, according to CPU-Z. It says it's still running at 166MHz. Tongue

from what i see it seems that your bios is set to use the second set of timings on the spd (limits speeds to ddr 333 or 166 mhz ) . I think you may want to lower those to 150 mhz(ddr 300)since at 133 fsb you may be running 442mhz (221 mhz)(note:200mhz in cpuz =400 mhz ddr . Since DDR transfers data in both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal . The ram operates at twice the bus speed ) and use the timings on the fastest settings (ddr 400 or 200 mhz in spd tool) on the second set of timings (ddr 333 or 166 mhz in spd tool so that the timings are loose enough to boot 200 mhz (ddr 400)

I recently reflashed my default SPDs, so my RAM's running at normal settings right now. Here's what some of them are:

SDRAM Cycle time at Maximum Supported CAS Latency: 5.00ns (200MHz) <--- despite this, the RAM runs at 166MHz

Maximum Clock Cycle at CLX-1: 6.00ns (167MHz)

Maximum Clock Cycle at CLX-2: 7.50ns (133MHz)

What should I have these set to?

EDIT: Come to think of it, this IS a BIOS modification board, right? I wonder if anyone has a hack for this laptop's BIOS that allows for better tweaking capabilities? The default options are quite limited. Tongue

try setting clx 1 to 5 ns 200 mhz with the the timings from the maximum supported cas latency .if your bios has hidden bios options then maybe we can unlock them but most laptop bioses dont contain any .did you try running your dothan at 133 fsb at current ram settings ?
