Asus EeePC 1201T - unlock memory setting
#11
I'm still tuned up, Antimony... Smile

Well, 1201tuser, your e-mail worked. Downloaded all the tools (my USB flash with BIOS-mod tools died a month ago) and will have a look. If I won't respond in a week you are free to give me another pinch.

Update: O.K. here it is. I've replaced the useless CPU configuration (let me know if you really need the PowerNOW! feature switch from it) with a much more nasty section.
IGP and memory settings at your service.

Check it out and report your results here!

Big Grin
Heart Thanks a lot, Antinomy. Smile
I've just flash BIOS and it works! I finally set 64MB of shared memory for graphics card (because 256MB by default is little bit much for me) and Windows seems to be more smooth with more applications running together.
I'll test it more and I will write the results (and send some pictures).
Thanks one more...

Dear Antinomy:

Thank you for you brilliant work and efforts to help us out, Asus 1201T netbook users.

I´m from Brazil and will try your BIOS MOD soon in my netbook, stay tuned for a complete report.

Thanks again!

Hi again,
first of all, THANK YOU for your work.
I completely forgot about the BIOS mod, I've even downloaded it some months ago, I believe, but never ended up applying it.
I'll see if I can get a flash drive tomorrow and flash the bios.
Thanks again for your mod.

Lets go to the work.

1) The flash was clear and fast, no problems.

2) The memory timings works so well, but I dont know why the memory itself doesnt works as you wish. I set it to 400 (its a original 2Gb DDr2 400 5-5-5-15-20) and it only works at 333 or 312Mhz, besides now its working faster with timings 4-4-4-10-14... I changed the 333-400-533 option to auto, limit and manual and still not working.

3) The VGA clock is working like charm, I used the Radeon originally 500Mhz some days with 600Mhz clock with no problem, but it heated up a lot the netbook (especially here in hot sunny Brazil), so I changed it back to a safer 550Mhz and still this way.

4) There is some way to unlock more powerful settings, like these really important you did?

5) CAUTION with memory timings, the 1201T netbook hasn´t a RESET button, so if you go way too far the netbook won´t turn it on. You will need to disassemble the lower part, remove 6 philips screws, open it, remove the battery bios and jumper it to close circuit, then it will start up again... Smile

THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORTS, ANTINOMY!

In reference to:

http://forum.eeeuser.com/index.php?/topi...ue-screen/

the ACPI bios of the 1201t limits you to 2gb, but the chipset should support up to 8gb.

In the thread I linked, the poster reports the bios detecting the 4gb of ram he installed, and memtest86 even passing tests with that ram, but windows giving an ACPI related blue screen.

Would it be possible to remove the 2gb limit from the acpi bios or is that beyond the possibilities of bios hacking?

Hello, everyone! I'm new to the forum and I am also interested in overcome the 2GB RAM limit on my 1201T. Did anyone get to install 4GB?

Hello! Can anyone help to solve the problem with unlocking support 4 GB RAM, if it possible?
