Asus GL702VM BIOS rescue
#1
Hi there and welcome everybody.

Recently I have made some changes to my bios settings, I think in key management. After this change laptop is powering up but with blank screen.

I have managed to find a bios dump from some user on the internet and successfully flash it to the bios chip using programmer. But this bios is password locked and it contains his mac address and serial number.

Is there any chance to repair my bios please?

Please dump current BIOS contents and upload, do not write anything to the chip until you have confirmed the dump is valid (looks like/similar to stock BIOS in UEFITool, is not all FF or 00 in hex etc)

Programmers don't tell you chips are blank, it's not a thing they say to user. Unless after you click erase, then blank (blank check), then it will tell you blank or not. But when clicking detect, then choose chip, then read - after that it never says blank even on blank chip.

Read the chip and save the contents, both chips. Send me the files to look at. If you look at the files in hex editor and they are all blank (FF or 00), try another version of the software. Here is package with many versions, if you give me actual chip ID I can tell you which versions might be best to use

Yes, if you have two of the same laptops you can do that, but you will copy over the other ones serial, UUID, and LAN MAC ID. I suggest you do not write anything until you get verified and validated backups from the problem system. BIOS could be blank, but I highly doubt that, more likely you are using wrong software version for those BIOS chips, or cables are connected wrong etc.

If you've already erased, then no need to dump anymore, all that info will be gone. So yes, using auto it will erase, then blank check and then write/verify. So they may be blank now if you used auto and it erased but then failed on write/verify, or may have part of the file written on there but it failed so not exact/complete.

No need for those dumps, you erased so all is gone, I didn't think of auto doing that when I replied initially. Did you erase both? If not, go ahead and send dump from both anyway just in case. Hopefully you did not erase 25q80dvsig, this is probably EC chip and EC often hard to find a dump of.

No need to pay anything! I will make you new BIOS from stock and dumps I will grab online. Please send me images of all stickers you can find on back of casing, and remove back/bottom and show all stickers inside you can see on the board or inside of the back casing. Also, remove memory sometimes there is a sticker under there too. Can you check your router logs also, see if you can identify your LAN MAC ID for this system.
