Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Full AM3 Support
#31
Yes, I guess the question is are we better then ASUS. Seeming as how its me vs. te department, and I won the initial CPU battle, I dont know Tongue

I am still looking over some things trying to grasp what is up, there is definitely logic behind jumping from 1801 to 5001. Also, the 955BE is so tricky because of the power its drawing (dual power plane) but I will continue my research and post some kind of conclusion this wee.

Thanks for the updates,
TheWiz

Watch out everybody.. looks like the X6ers are out in the wild:
http://promotions.newegg.com/AMD/6core/index.html

The 2.8Ghz (1055T) is only $209!! Does anybody know if the multiplier will be unlocked on these new six core beasts? Who wants to take the plunge and try one out in an AM2 board?

Sure.. let me get right on that. Just send me your name, address, and credit card number (including the 3-digit code on the back) and I'll have it sent right over. Big Grin

Which AM2 boards support the Phenom II X4 955 and 965?
Is that a way to find out how the powerplanes got conquered?
That is the way to be sure the X6 will work too.

What do you mean by the 'powerplanes got conquered?'

Since no AM2 motherboards support dual powerplanes for the chips you mentioned, none of them are supported natively. TheWiz is working on BIOS updates for AM2 boards that will include the microcode and the AGESA for the newer chips so they are 'recognized' by the older boards. The main challenge though is getting the motherboards to not revert to 'safe mode' (4x multiplier / 800mhz speeds.)

Sorry for putting it in the wrong words. I meant on which boards are these CPU's working without the safety breaks, 4x multiplier?
If you would check such a bios for the trick to achieve that.
That would be great.

Keep up the good works!

BTW I got my spare chips!
Got some time to test this weekend.

I have an asus m2n sli deluxe motherboard and I am currently running a amd athlon x2 6000+ with windows xp 32 bit. I ordered a amd phenom II x4 945 3.0ghz cpu with windows 7 64 bit. I already flashed my bios to the 5001 version. Is there any known problems with this bios version using the phenom 945? Is there anything I need to worry about with using this version and cpu?

No, after I made my modded version ASUS realized we were making them look foolish, and they released version 5001 which includes all the CPU updates we inserted. The Phenom II 945 has been confirmed working.

TheWiz
