OK im sorry i didn't notice this request!

First , CPU mods work better if you get acquire a testing chip first! Therefore if the mod still doesnt work or you end up with a dead motherboard then you havent spent a lot of money on a new cpu that you cant use. We can go through the correct steps to help add the CPU support but sometimes the cpu still wont work!

You have mentioned you have the Intel 945G chipset. This chipset supports Intel Pentium 4, Pentium D, Celeron D, Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Duo with an FSB of 533/800/1066 so in theory (THEORY being a very important part of this sentence) , you should be able to throw in an Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 3.06ghz. However this depends on a lot of things.

Would you mind telling me what CPU is currently in the machine? Its important to more or less match the TDP of the current CPU. The E7600 has a TDP of 65W (Power/Heat Levels)

Theoretically , if the TDP is similar , the chipset supports the CPU , the CPU physically fits in the slot and the BIOS contains the correct CPU Microcode (Which we can add in!) the CPU should be recognised.

Try getting hold of any Core 2 Chip to test with! They all use similar microcodes anyway so for example if a low end e6xxx works then the high end e7600 should too (And perhaps quad cores too as they use the same microcode ID but no promises because apparantly the 945g chipset doesnt officially support Core 2 Quad!)

Quite a huge thing I think we all overlooked. Isn't there a version 5.23 for this board that seems to have much more up-to-date CPU code?
