Dell Inspiron 1545 & Core 2 Extreme QX9300 & Core 2 Quad Q9100
#21
Did you change CPU on an already existing Windows installation?
Have you checked that the new CPU is recognized - with all 4 cores - in the Device Manager?
If not, "uninstall" the CPU-drivers and let windows re-install them.

ok, I will examine about acpi and try it out
I will report when there is something good
thankyou

I examined acpi, remodeled it to enabled 4core and restarted.

ubuntu restarted during booting and did not start up.
windows started However, in the device manager is 4 core was enabled and only 2 core was enabled in the task manager Angel Angel .
(Core_2_Quad_Q9100_ACPI1111.jpg)
(Temporarily checked to capture the number of cpu cores which is running with the advanced boot option unchecked)

Just to be sure I tried a benchmark but it was a score of half Core 2 quad (2 cores).

I tried for reference acpi

"" old quadcore activation method left for reference wrote:
APIC table with the "acpi" command APIC table with the "ai" of the two additional CPUs, one needs to load a modified APIC table with the "acpi" command This way, every operating system that will be booted by GRUB 2 should be able to recognize all four CPUs (tested: linux and windows 7).

I will not go into the details here, have a look at this thread: http://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/172581 ... en-bringen

Just download and extract this zip file: download

It contains the modified APR table. GRUB 2. I have a working linux with GRUB 2 and maybe also Windows 7, which you boot via GRUB 2.
I use opensuse 13.1, for other linux distributions, it might be necessary to use other paths and commands.

Copy the skript "01-apic" from the zip file to "/etc/grub.d" and make it executable. For other linux distributions, it migth be necessary to change the path to "grub-mkconfig_lib" in the skript.
In the directory "/ boot" create a directory "ACPI" and place the file "APIC.aml" in it. Then generate an new GRUB 2 - config by executing (as root)
CODE: SELECT ALL

/ usr / sbin / grub2-mkconfig --output = / boot / grub2 / grub.cfg
[/ size]
That will load the APIC table. You should see some output like "found custom APIC table" when creating the new config.

After a reboot, all four cores should be active. ""

I will send you the modified acpi file.(apicmod-1545.zip)

Are there any other ideas to work with the four cores?
thankyou

I tried it but only 2 cores enabled Angel

Might be a bit far-fetched, but have you tried starting from a bootable Mini Windows disc/USB? Does it recognize all cores there? Then perhaps you need to reinstall windows in case you f**ked up the registry or something.

If you start with Windows only without remodeling acpi, only 2 cores will be enabled in Device Manager
(4 cores are enabled in bios)
I will try later to reinstall windows

Hi, my friend! I´m new here!

I´ve seem you have the same dell 1545 that i have.

I have 3 pieces of Q9100,

In first test, the 1545 didn´t start with q9100

so, i saw something over the internet and i broken some pins from cpu. Now 1545 started, but it show only 2 cores, the same case of you

Can you solve this question of Dell 1545 with Quads?

Thanks and sorry my English, i´m from Brazil..so..

We added wire with insulation pin (Source: https: //thinkpad-forum.de/threads/199129-Core2-Quad-mit-Coreboot-Libreboot-auf-T500- (-wahrsch-auch-T400) - benutzen-BETA) I tried to manipulate 4 cores by making acpi mod with the ubuntu boot loader (GRUB 2 boot loader) but 4 cores did not work ... Angel Angel Angel

So I think 4 core active is impossible.
