ECS A78F2-TI and A8-7680
#1
I have the subject board, a mini-ITX FM2+ board and tried to install a 45W A8-7680 to cut down on heat generation in a tiny case, but the CPU is not supported.  Hoping to get a BIOS mod so that it is.  Link to mfr BIOS:

Any possibility?  TIA, and my apologies if I left anything crucial out.

Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with your A8-7680.

No boot. Everything powers up but blank screen. Have two CPUs and two identical boards. Both CPUs on either board same result. Thought maybe bad CPUs (what are the odds) but in researching further it doesn't look like a ton of boards support this CPU because it's a relatively recent release (2019). ECS does not have it on its list but those lists aren't always complete.

Tried CPUs in an Asus A88X-Pro I have on hand with a POST code display on board. Same result at first, no progress through POST codes at all. Updated Asus to latest BIOS, then when booting it will go through a series of POST codes and then restart to repeat the loop. Asus also does not show this in its supported CPU list.

Should have done my research before but just ASSumed any A8 would work -- my bad there. I can always get MBs that support it and build bargain boxes for CL. Just was hoping to get a lower TDP CPU in these mini-ITX builds. Would be awesome if that is possible.

Thank you for replying! And also for any further help you can provide, even if it's to tell me I'm SOL!

There is no simple way to add support for this CPU.

Darn, too bad.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at it and provide an answer.
