Fujitsu U820 With Fujitsu SLIC 2.1/SLP
#51
Here you go , one bootable CD recovery ISO

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/747181/Fujits...y%20CD.iso

If you can boot from this and get to a DOS Prompt , type autoexec.bat and then enter and let it work away!

Just noticed my thread did not get deleted, but moved...
I will be back to test out BusyKid's version... in roughly two weeks, and will definitely report back...

In the meantime, can anyone of you kindly test out this version...

http://www.box.net/shared/5faf8f2lox

by dumping/verifying to see if there are any errors??? Sorry, busykid, I'm not saying not trusting your work... but I want a second opinion whether your version will get me a higher success rate.

NOTE for other brave users that might be interested:
* The problem SLIC remained to be SLIC 2.0 is because Checksum issue in BIOSHEADER.INI file. Just generate a checksum and modify the BIOS...
* The only version not TESTED is Fujitsu MOD by BusyKid and Fujitsu SLIC by 1234s282.
* The version failed on my machine was HP SLIC by 1234s282.

Sorry , but to protect other users from bricking , i am closing this thread. Users who still download these bioses are being silly and we will not be offering support for this mod until Best8845 gets back to us

Best8845 , please PM me with your results , if you are succesful i will reopen the thread

Kind Regards

Latest Update. Successfully SLIC2.1'ed the BIOS...
Credit to rbjack... FYI: There are at least 2 SLIC presented in the original/official BIOS downloaded from Fujitsu. One is SLIC2.0, and the other one is SLIC2.1, both are complete and full SLIC.

Regarding on how to unlock the hidden 2.1 SLIC, it might relies on the Fujitsu Configuration ID that we had on the bottom of the PC, or the ID in the DMI portion of the BIOS. Similar to DELL ASSET TAG controlling which SLIC to be activated. But it is NOT CONFIRMED. Just guessing.

Give me this please;

First and FOREMOST - DO NOT RENAME THIS FILE AT ALL - When it saves it will save to a DEFAULT NAME. LEAVE THAT NAME ALONE and DO NOT TOUCH IT or CHANGE THE NAME. If you do rename the file, I will put you on the backburner or at the end of the line for your request.

Download and Install RWEverything from one of the following links:
http://jacky5488.myweb.hinet.net/
http://jacky5488.myweb.hinet.net/bin/RwV1.4.zip
http://slics.myftp.org/Tools/RwV1.4.rar

Open RWEverything.

After RWEverything Opens, click ACCESS - ACPI Tables.

When ACPI Tables opens, click anywhere within the ACPI Window.

Now click CONTROL + F2 to save the entire table.

Save this Report to the desktop WITHOUT CHANGING THE NAME and either attach this file to your post or upload it to one of the following:
www.box.net or www.mediafire.com or www.sendspace.com

If you upload your RWEverything Report to one of the 3 host servers above, post the download link of your RWEverthing Report in the Post of your Mod Request.

Below is the preferred method in which to post your mod requests:

-Manufacturer:
-Motherboard Model:
-Bios revision:
-Bios Type: Phoenix BIOS
-Bios Download Link:
-RW Everything Report Down

Busykid508: I have troubles using RWEverything. Otherwise, I will provide the necessary information for you. For some reason, whenever I launched the program, the whole system hangs at the splash screen regarding how "fresh" my OS is, or what OS I'm using.

1234s282: As long as others did not modify the checksum in the INI file, the BIOS will not flash the SLIC table. No flashing will occurred if they are on Version 1.22 Before MOD... therefore, bricking will not happened if they just downloaded and flashed as it IF AND ONLY IF they are on Version 1.22 Orginial BIOS already.
There are 4 MODS available in this thread.
All will flashed with no problems IF AND ONLY IF it is flashed as is AND it is currently BIOS version 1.22 before MOD.

If you modify the BIOS CHECKSUM entry in BIOSHEADER INI file, here are the results...

Post #7: Fujitsu SLIC by busykid508
- FLASH = OK after changing CHECKSUM in BIOSHEADER file
- BOOT = OK POST, OK into WINDOWS
- SLIC = FAILED.
- SLIC CHECKED BY SLIC DUMP KIT shows ERRORS.

Post #11: Fujitsu SLIC by 1234s282
- NOT TESTED

Post #13: Fujitsu SLIC by 1234s282
- NOT TESTED

Post #17: HP SLIC by 1234s282
- FLASH = OK after modify CHECKSUM in BIOSHEADER file suggested by rbjack
- BOOT = Will not get pass POST screen. CONSIDERED it BRICKED...
- SLIC = UNKNOWN, no chance to CHECK

FUJ SLIC by rbjack
- FLASH = OK
- BOOT = OK POST, OK into WINDOWS
- SLIC = SLIC 2.1 according to SLIC Dump Kit
- Pending permission to post the link from rbjack. I've already PM him about it.

Original BIOS from Fujitsu
- SLIC 2.0 is the default table loaded.
- SLIC 2.1 is hidden by something... but full SLIC 2.1 is available already inside the BIOS
- Worth to check if activation works before trying any MOD

Here is the link to the bios that worked.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/uj25jp

Use the flashaid tool included.
2.0 inline replacement with 2.1 - SLIC7 left untouched.

I think it may be possible with this machine to edit DMI to use the SLIC7. After doing a bios dump on two other machines, I found some DMI entries that appear to be OS ID related after the UID. If these are related, editing the ID may tell the BIOS what SLIC is to be used when multiple SLIC are present.
