GA-8i915PM - BIOS Needed, Help the No0b pls
#1
Hey,

I really need some help, not sure if this is the right place to post, but i'm sure you will let me know.

I have a GA-8i915PM mobo. This is not the GA-8i915PM-FS by Fujitsu Siemens, from thier Scaleo P range, but it is a board from a Packard Bell iMedia 1804.

The BIOS is corrupt, and the machine will not boot. I have tried to use the GA-8i9115PM-F retail BIOS but the ROM on the retaill board is bigger than those shipped with the OEM version for FS or PB/

I have searched for a BIOS for a day or two now, and not come across anything I can use, just a few forum threads, but no files.

Can you please help, if you know of where I can DL either an original or modded BIOS for this board.

Nice!

Ok, Thanks for that, but not suitable for this board, there is a retail version but couldnt get it to flash.

Anyway, here is my next problem. I was waiting for Packard Bell to get back to me, and in the meantime thought, I'm just going to try the Fujitsu Siemens BIOS instead as surely it can't be that different.

OK, so basically the flash went, and also wrote new boot block code.

Now I get an email from Packard Bell with the correct BIOS for the board, but because of the boot block change, I can no longer flash the bios with anything other than a Fujitsu bios.

My question is what could the boot block be checking for on the floppy disk containing the BIOS, is it as simple as a register within the BIOS file - OEM identifier for example.

Can i use modbin to edit this if so.

Or is anyone with more knowledge of BIOS mods than me happy to compare the both and amend the PB one so the boot block will allow the flash to go ahead.

Thanks for reading, hope it makes sense

If you just add /f to your command switches in AWDFLASH it force the correct BIOS to rewrite over the Fujitsu despite it being different.

I added that to the autoexec.bat, no difference.

When the machine boots to the boot block it auto checks HDD and then floppy, then gives message no BIOS found.

It is as if it is checking the BIOS file on the floppy, and then comes back saying it can't find it.

Thanks for your help
It doesn't give me a command prompt at all?

Please follow the flashing procedure according to our BIOS update page on our homepage navigation. Follow the AWARD Flashing procedure with the additional /f command and it will work fine.

Thanks,
