I started by changing the label on the HP_TOOLS volume and was able to run HPQFlash and flash the modded bios you sent me. After a reboot and some LED flashing I got the following message:
A system bios recover has occurred.
BIOS Recovery (500)
After that, I deleted the entire HP_TOOLS partition as you suggested and tried again. After the reboot the screen went black and I got a flashing caps lock led. I have to admit that this was pretty scary but I was able to use the USB stick method to recover. Apparently, the bios automatically recovers from "F:\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current" if an image is available. With that volume missing, the USB stick was the only option.
Why do you think the system believes the modded bios is corrupt?
