HP Pavillion DV5-1199EF F.21 (BROADCOM BCM4315)
#1
Dear Bios Modders

I am looking for a removal of the Wifi Whitelist in the Bios of the DV5-1199ef.

This Laptop is an Intel based Core2Duo with an "insyde" Bios, the current Release is "F.21" and the ID is "3603".

Currently ist seems to be, that only an Intel 5100 Wifi Adapter is allowed, all others Mini PCI-E Adapters are leading to the Error 104.

Is it possible to whitelist the BCM4315?

The link to the original Bios is: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45138.exe

I looked for the Hardware IDs:

The Intel 5100 (which is shipped with the DV5 and which is in the Whitelist) :

PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_4237&SUBSYS_12118086&REV_00
PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_4237&SUBSYS_12118086
PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_4237&CC_028000
PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_4237&CC_0280

The Broadcom BCM4315 which should be whitelisted:

PCI/VEN_14EA&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_000C1028&REV_01
PCI/VEN_14EA&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_000C1028
PCI/VEN_14EA&DEV_4315&CC_028000
PCI/VEN_14EA&DEV_4315&CC_0280

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and kind regards
Wil

having trouble finding where the whitelist is but you can always try this mod which has the whitelist completely removed! Big Grin

Flash this at your own risk though!

Admin

hello again, humm here's some few things: I downloaded the stuff attached, tryed to run the insyde.exe but the application told me that there were no rom file in the curent directory, so I compared the content of your directory and the one of the "official" bios, and there is a file, name 3602F21.FD that is in the official and not in yours. So I "simply" copied the file 3603F21.FD (located in your directory) into 3602F21.FD. After that, I got two distinct files, 3602F21.FD and 3603F21.FD but that are indentical. I tryed to flash again, It "worked", the computer powered off as it should have but when I tryed to reboot it, baaamm, the computer is bricked!! So after 7 hours and one suicide attempt, I finally manage to recovery flash my bios!! but I am now, back to square one! lol

Could you tell me why the attached files you gave me didn't work??

thanks in advance sir

PS: the whitelist modding is the same as you did here: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HP...om-BCM4311

and with the same original bios I linked to you, you manage to mod it... how come havn't you been able to do the same here ??

Hey WillzetriCksta,

Sorry for the long wait. The admin who is currently working on your project is in the proccess of moving, and is waiting to get reconnected to the internet. I have informed him that this needs attending to, so I thank you for your patience.

Congrats on the recovery, I hope our page on that helped. Smile

I have a hp dv5 1138tx which I think uses the same bios? mine is also here ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45138.exe
I have a apple airport express card I want to put in, did you manage to get the whitelist removed completely?

Thanks
