Interesting experience with a HP probook 645 g4
#1
I recently go my hands on a scrapped HP Probook 645 G4, the top cover/LCD was in bad condition but it booted fine on an external screen.

I was reading the spi flash to dump the BIOS & try and remove a password.
This laptop has HP Sure Start, so it is supposed to be resistant to modification of the BIOS & BIOS settings
it has 3 flash chips, 1 16mbit, 2 128mbit.
I was reading the spi flash from the second 128mbit chip and something went wrong, the laptop refused to power on untill i removed and reseated the battery.
On boot, it Sure Start reflashed its own BIOS, when it finished the BIOS had its password removed.
I now get a notification every boot "There is a problem with the security device on the unit" i can skip it with ESC and can boot normally.
I'm still trying to figure out what exactly happend. Possibly I shorted the second flash chip or some part of the TPM.

Ideally I would like to get rid of the notification on every reboot.
Does anyone have any idea what might have happend?
