[REQUEST] Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E531 (HEETxxWW) Whitelist Removal
#51
(05-20-2014, 04:57 AM)burtal Wrote: resurrecting this thread

i have been out for a while and im not up to speed with the new developments

as per this thread http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Le...el-7620-AC

it appears that those users were able to flash a modded bios without an external programer .....? or i did not understand that well ?

if that is the case ....x240 i guess has the same protections as E531, can thinkpad edge E531 be modded now?

Thanks

I would like to know as well... I'm looking to get one of those "external GPU" adapters and I would need to use my Lenovo 531's wifi slot for this, right? and since it uses a whitelist a gpu wouldn't be accepted, right?

Edit: https://www.sendspace.com/file/j2nzcl maybe this will help for whoever want's to mod the bios..

can the modified bios posted earlier in this thread be flashed onto any laptop of same model? (lenovo e531)

or do I need a new modified bios made from my own bios backup? (it is unique to each device?)
also can you tell me what hardware programmer i need?

ah, yes. I don't have another computer to use, but I have Raspberry Pi 2, it should be able to read/flash the chip with flashrom utility.
I am still waiting to buy the text-clip and jumper cables I need.
I also have to fully dissassemble my laptop to get to the BIOS chips, so I will wait until I have enough time for this kind of project... since it is my only computer right now!

but you want both chips dumped before I try to flash the modified BIOS?
you might have to wait some weeks..
