[Pend] Request over/underclockable bios mod for acer 522 aspire one
#1
camomli has already supplied an unlocked bios for this netbook, however looking at the bytecode of the bios there are a plethora of additional options available. i know that it has been said that no more can be done, but if someone is interested, maybe they could patch in these additional features. for example:

One Of [0x1a7<1>] 'Turbo Mode'
\Help text: 'Enable processor Turbo Mode(requires EMTTM enabled too).'
Option 'Disabled' = 0x0 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0
Option 'Enabled' = 0x1 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0
End One Of
End If
Grayout If
EQ [0x85<1>] == 0x2
EQ [0x86<1>] == 0x1

and
from advanced:
Text: 'CPU Type:','[Not Detected]' Flags:0x0 Key:0x0
Text: 'System Bus Speed','[Not Detected]' Flags:0x0 Key:0x0
Text: 'System Memory Speed','[Not Detected]' Flags:0x0 Key:0x0

aspire one users are looking for fsb adjustments, video card ram adjustments, voltage adjustments. thanks so much

Turbo mode is enabled by default, and the other items are just info. If you want any of the still hidden options unlocked, tell me and i will try to do it, but if it is not already built into the bios then forget it.

Thanks alot for taking another look at this. I've put a list of options together that I'm hoping to be able to see and tweak in the bios.

0xf3: Clock Chip Initialize:
0xf4: Enabled CK SSC:
0x19c: P-States(IST)
0x19d: Thermal Mode
0x19e: Fan On Temperature
0x1a4: EMTTM
0x1a6: Dynamic FSB Switching
0x1a7: Turbo Mode
0x1b2: C-States
0x1b3: Enhanced C-States

\Help text: 'Enable processor Enhanced Multi Threaded Thermal Monitoring (requires GV3).'
Option 'Disabled' = 0x0 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0
Option 'Enabled' = 0x1 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0
End One Of

One Of [0x1a6<1>] 'Dynamic FSB Switching'
\Help text: 'Enable or disable processor Dynamic FSB Frequency Switching(Bus GV).'
Option 'Disabled' = 0x0 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0
Option 'Enabled' = 0x1 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0
End One Of
End If
Grayout If
EQ [0x85<1>] == 0x2
EQ [0x86<1>] == 0x1
AND
One Of [0x1a7<1>] 'Turbo Mode'
\Help text: 'Enable processor Turbo Mode(requires EMTTM enabled too).'
Option 'Disabled' = 0x0 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0
Option 'Enabled' = 0x1 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0
End One Of
\Help text: 'Enable processor performance states(P-States).'
Option 'Disabled' = 0x0 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0
Option 'Enabled' = 0x1 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0
End One Of

Will have a look why those options are still hidden, but, if i enable it for you, don't blame me if you end up with a semibrick playing with them Smile
'Enable processor Enhanced Multi Threaded Thermal Monitoring (requires GV3).'
is enabled as default.
'Dynamic FSB Switching'
is disabled as default.
'Enable processor Turbo Mode(requires EMTTM enabled too).'
is enabled as default.
'Enable processor performance states(P-States).'
is enabled as default.

This is right now, even you don't see the options that are their default values.
Anyway if you have the script that dumps the menu forms you can patch them and see the result yourself Smile
hmmm, can't see why that options are still hidden, options appear and disappear accordingly other bios parameters configurations, like P-States(IST), C-States, etc.

Or do you see in the "bytecode" any Suppress just before that options???
One Of [0xf3<1>] 'Clock Chip Initialize:'
\Help text: ' '
Option 'Disabled' = 0x0 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0
Option '48MHz' = 0x30 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0
Option '66MHz' = 0x42 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0

is 66Mhz as default. And it's under video configuration.

thanks for confirming all of that. i have no skills in this area and am just trying to do anything i can to find a way to contribute to the users looking to undervolt the gpu and overclock the cpu of this netbook. i really do appreciate that you took the time to look at this. i guess no further modding is needed, as nothing can be patched in. keep up the good work camiloml

I am recieving requests for enabling dynamic fsb. If you could mod that in Camiloml that would be awesome!

I will try. Even i can't see why it's still hidden. Will force unhide it but that may bring unpredictable results when changed as it's chained to other options.

thers alot of users that will test this mod. i guess we'll know quickly whether or not it brings some overclocking, or a big brick

Look in your bios, do you have "Advanced CPU control" in POWER tab? Post please a screenshot of that menu if you have it.
