[REQUEST] ASUS P5K3L-ASUS-S1-P5G35/Essentio CS5111 Increase Max RAM
#1
Hello. I have an ASUS Essentio CS5111. It currently has the last supported BIOS (1403) installed. There is one additional, final BIOS version (0101), which the ASUS website says:
'*Only support native Win7 system with Win7 Recovery DVD*Do not update this Bios version if your system are not native Win7 system.'
I am not sure which OS this machine had on it before I got my hands on it. I doubt it was the Windows 7 version. I am unsure of what issues it would cause to put the 0101 BIOS on the machine.
The SUS P5K3L-ASUS-S1-P5G35/Essentio CS5111 only supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM (2x2 GB). I have tried using more than 2x2 GB and the machine will not post. I am hoping the max RAM could be increased to 8 GB (2x4 GB) in a modified BIOS.
I think the best BIOS to modify would be 1403 as I am unsure of the viability of 0101. The machine is a dinosaur I am hoping to bring back to life with Linux. 8 GB of RAM would make it a much more practical machine. I appreciate any assistance that could be offered. I hope this is the right forum to post this.

It is one of these little tiny things. No mobo switch possible.

Any(!) motherboard with necessary support to check its BIOS.
I think it doesn't exist.

I understand now. What I am asking is essentially impossible. 8 GB is only possible with 4x2GB due to the G35 chipset. Thank You for responding.
