But i have read somewhere that changing to legacy mode wipes OS. Is it right? I dont have OS cd or anything with me now.

No only if You reflash an older Bios You wil lost Win8 License !
Using Legacy USB (CSM) You will Boot from MBR and not GPT, when You change
again this into Bios Setup to UEFI Boot and clearing CSM then You will Boot again
from your HD !!!

I'm novice in this forum and I hope it's the right place to put this request, please help me !
My PC has msg "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed." No boot from usb/cd/HD and no post bios.
I used the FN+ESC procedure putting on usb key the V5WE2x64.fd I've found on internet. I renamed it in bios.fd otherwise pc sounds 3 long beep and shutdown after few second.
Tryied different V5WE2x64.fd but usb and Pc blinked over 20-30 minutes (someone says right time was "2..5 min" !) with no result.

Could you kindly help me to found the right bios.fd file to put on usb key ?

I've searched all places to find a custom InsydeH20 BIOS for my Acer, but i didn't find.

I'm using InsydeH20 BIOS in 2.17 version. Can someone help me find a way to unlock it?

I don't know the risk about this !
I haven't this laptop, but many users have bricked laptops Overclocking or
Disabling Video card, in this case Ithink it could work !

Hello, thank fou your answer,
I followed the instruction but nothing different happened. Launching with FN+ESC, Usb and notebook hd blinked for about 22 minutes, but no dos botstrap from the usb key, only flashing and black screen so no possibility to access in dos mode and then launch flash.bat
I tryied also to startup normally (no FN+ESC) for a standard bootstrap but of course no bootstrap from usb (neither form cd nor hd as I previoulsy said). Only the blue windows with written "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. etc." then I pressed OK and starts the boot manager but each option fails (CD/HDD/network/USB HDD).
I tryied booting with that usb key from another Pc (just to verify usb) ad It boot correctly; I find all files on the root and of course i've not launched anything on that different Pc !

I did a mistake following the instruction or what else ?

With FN+ESC procedure I think Pc wants, on usb key, only a single bios.fd file, isn't it ? So the procedure we tryied only could be good if notebook bootrstrapped ok from usb ?

What can I do else ?
