[REQUEST] Acer Aspire E5-573(G) BIOS Unlock
#21
I've been monitoring this forum for a few months; no offense karatekidmonkey, but I thought for sure you bailed. And when I thought you bailed - I decided to come back a few months later for someone like DuctTapeSamurai.

So +1 to DuctTapeSamurai for giving it a completely related go and bumping the thread with relevant information.

You're now sharing the thread karatekidmonkey!

I'm still at version Insyde 1.13 and willing to help.
I'm "tech saavy", and I want to throw up data in confidence.
The laptop is great, but there's bottenecks in places that can only be unlocked at the motherboard level. Users need to be aware that this is a touchy device, and one could easily cook the machine if they have no idea what they're doing.

Users, such as karatekidmonkey, can already overclock the 940m with the standard setup Up-To-Date.
NOTE: The 940m is LOCKED TO OPTIMUS. So, unless you Lock the Performance Mode OR you run a game/application that turns the GPU on -- no overclock will work and may appear odd in some overclocking applications. 9/10 users get stuck here. Since the GPU isn't on, it isn't recognized by windows, and therefor cannot be overclocked.

Here's the Overclocking How-To;
1. Nvidia Inspector - does the clocks. Just because you cant see your core changes in MSI Afterburner doesn't mean they didn't take place. The relevant clock is P0 (Turbo), although there's a few tricks you can perform at P5 (Standard). You only get voltage control at P0. You can set default performance modes using .bat files - ie locking performance (non-adaptive).
(I've stable overclocked my Core at +2000 in P5, not that it mattered because the Memory Freq. is locked at 1001 in P5. Functionality via Bottleneck Obscurity)

2. Nvidia PowerMizer Manager - This is the easiest way to lock a performance mode. .BAT files in Nvidia Inspector can be unreliable, and unless you understand the nature of the 940m GPU may not work at all due to scripting inexperience. NPMM is easy to use. Once locked - change the Clocks on a Performance Mode via Nvidia Inspector (P5 Cheat).

3. MSI Afterburner. Clocks apply here as well - but the only visible changes are in Memory. Changes made here only apply to Performance Mode P0. You have no control over voltage at any performance level. Changes made here are visible in Nvidia Inspector. Your Core Freq. will always read 540MHz unless your running in a locked performance mode - when locked it will read accurately. The core reads at 0MHz when the GPU is off, and 405MHz when in P5/P8.

4. Intel Extreme Tuning Utility - This gives you Voltage Control over your CPU and your GPU. But there's an additional setting; "Processor Graphics Ratio Limit", which I'm still wrapping my head around. According to IETU, at Default the Max Graphics Processor Frequency while playing Fallout 4 on High is 900MHz (9x). This is statistically different than what's being processed for the Core and Memory Clocks on the GPU. You can push this stat to 10x (1000MHz). From what I can tell, this didn't cost any heat and only improved performance. Note: You can go as high at 10.5x, but it results in some serious graphical glitches on the Desktop (games run fine). 11x will crash the machine. I'd recommend playing it safe.

If the above setting were the overclock, the Turbo at manufacturer settings is 1176. Seeing as how 11.5x/12x cannot be set, I doubt it's related to the GPU overclock, and is rather a CPU related OC.

My Clock:
+134 Core Freq.
+114 Memory Freq.
Stable.ish - runs hot.

I underclock Fallout 4, Mad Max, and other next gen games due to overheating.
Underclock #1:
-201 Memory Freq.
Underclock #2:
-46 Core Freq.
-176 Mem Freq.

I'm interested in the overall Heat Control and Auto-Shutdown of the Laptop.
If the heat was pushed to 101 instead of 91 the machine would be decent and require less/no underclock.

Further overclocking of the GPU than outlined here is unsafe.
Disabling the Intel Dedicated Card, from what I've read based on other modded bios of similar devices, could result in a brick due to the nature of the Optimus.

NEED TOOLS + STEP BY STEP
I'll check back. Thanks!

@karatekidmonkey

Here's updated links to those tools. Hard time keeping them up-to-date it seems.

I'm super interested in the results! I ran the tools at 1.13 and received the same errors.

Hi everybody,

does anybody could please help me with unlocking the advanced menu of my Bios?

I need to access it beacuse my bios can't see the ssd drive I put instead of my optical drive but my UEFI has just booting options (I believe it's Insyde Flash utility rev 5).

Here's the link to Backup Tools Report (I have to say that I had some error while running this tool), Universal Bios Backup ROM and AIDA64 Full Report:

Reports and ROM

Here's instead the link to the download of my Bios version from ACER support website:

ACER Official Bios

Thanks in advance.

(reopen the Lid), then redo the result files (I hope last time !)

Thanks for your reply, sorry if I'm late but I had problems with my windows installation.

I tried to do as you said but the error seems to stay.

Anyway I uploaded the new results:

Please let me know how to proceed and thanks again.
