[REQUEST] Asus A550JK & K550JK & X550JK BIOS Unlock
#51
Well, nope. I think just doing it right and stop to ask question first when I'm in doubt is enough. The issue is also that I don't know which one and where to buy it from, my dad also doesn't really trust me doing these kind of things. Sucks to be me. Undecided

Anyway, I'll let you know about the results once I'm done trying the DOS way. Or.. can I do the efi one?

And another question, sorry if I'm asking too much. Will it give me errors when the flash is failed like FPT does? If that's so, it'll be great to know.
(Whoops, rookie mistake there. I quoted myself. Now I can't delete it. Big Grin )

Do you need links to buy those, it's only $6 total shipped, surely he'd be OK with that Big Grin Especially if it will save you from having to send the board off to be repaired.
Here - https://www.ebay.com/itm/201316582787
+ https://www.ebay.com/itm/382486015977

You can do DOS or EFI, up to you.

Stop to ask questions?? Why now, after you went ahead last time on bright red error?
J/K, I know how you feel Big Grin

I decided to go the DOS way, but anyway. I guess I'll just have to run it the normal way? Just like what I did in the CMD in windows?

Also yeah, I don't want to throw money on fixing it. The shipping time of bios flashing tools though, I don't have that much time to wait, I move around back and forth so often. That's also why I'm asking you so much now. Thanks for providing the link still!

Yes, in DOS you use same commands as windows (only FPT.exe instead of FPTw.exe)

If you order now, it will be here as soon as you forget you ordered it (if you ordered way back when I first suggested it would be there already Big Grin)
Order now, then you'll have soon!

Hmn, something interesting happened. When I tried to verify normal unmodded bios dump first. fPT throws up an error "Data verify mismatch found.", what's going on? And when I tried to get it to verify the modded one, it said is can't find the file. I copied it into the USB drive though. Both bios dumps of course. But it apparently can't see it.

Also, whelp, the CH341A programmer also doesn't ship to thailand. Is there other place to buy it from? Like from different seller?
The test clip is the only thing that ships to where I live.

Verify is only going to work right after you dump it, maybe not even then if time/date/any setting or checksum changes/NVRAM variable/CMOS setting etc. General reply about this, no one ever uses nor needs to use the verify function, forget about it, it's not needed for anything we are doing here and is only going to continue your prolonged confusion and uncertainty.

If you are in Thailand I assume you can go across the street to any market that sells computer stuff and find this in person, no need to order online considering where you are.

Also, there are a 1000 other sellers on ebay that will ship to Thailand, search CH341A and find a seller that ships to you. I only gave those two links as some of the cheaper examples.

Go to DOS, dump your BIOS with FPT, then try to flash in the mod BIOS I sent you, if any error take an image to show me, and then reflash the BIOS dump you just created. As mentioned, if it still gives you any error in DOS, I will redo the mod and we'll see if that is the issue, if it's not then it could be you have some faulty bit/bytes on your chip that is not letting you erase or write (Stock would go back fine since it's what's written there already)

Read this page, I've dealt with same issue before, user was fine eventually after having done the flash in DOS instead (posts 76-83)

Oh okay, I'll try when I can. I don't have time now. Will let you know what happens.

So, after trying again. Making a new stable dump, the DOS still couldn't see the modded bios file when I tried flashing it. I made extra sure that it's in here. It sees and flashes the unmodded bios dump just fine though.

You need to show me what you're doing in DOS, I can't help with DOS issues by seeing a windows folder in windows Big Grin
Also, if that is all you have in your USB that's not going to work, it needs to be bootable USB and FPT needs to be there too, all in the root of the USB (Nothing in folders)
