[REQUEST] Asus ROG Strix G512LW BIOS Unlock
#1

Hi all,
I'm new to this topic.
I recently bought CRUCIAL Ballistix 2x16GB memory but it only runs on 2660Mhz at 1.2V.
Any chance that this BIOS can be unlocked to access the memory settings? I'd like to run it on 1.35V and 3000 or 3200Mhz if possible.

The BIOS dump I created with the tool advised on this forum:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ih0Szhe...sp=sharing

Thanx!

I've looked everywhere for either the 310 bios or a way to unlock the overclocking menu on my MB so I can overclock my CPU and memory.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  My ROM dump is attached.

I have found a sort of a guide, but to be honest, I have no idea what I am or I should do... Some guidance would be appreciated from someone experienced... Tongue

hi guys, i previously got my strix g512lv (i7 10750h, rtx 2060) laptop modded here by genius239. bios version was 312 and the mod granted me access to the advanced tap so i can enable undervolting. however i think asus implemented something that would alter the changes everytime the pc boots up so it ended up being useless. But i think you should for genius239 to reply as he is an asus bios modder and pretty much an expert. good luck

@Kay123 your post is pure misinformation. I have similiar laptop with the same spec's as yours,even the same BIOS version which was unlocked by @genius239 here and i am perfectly able to undervolt it.
Read my post(the original bios unlock request) to learn how to avoid Intel ME's Boot Guard to block the undervolting abilities once you're logged in in Windows:
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...15-GU502LV

P.S. OP here just needs his BIOS unlocked(whenever that might be),so stop scaring the guy please ?

Yepp, all I need is to be able to run my RAM kit on 1.35V at 2933/3200mhz. I'm OK with the already available undervolting option.

1. I can help you out to unlock bios Advanced menus. I must tell you a thing that not all ASUS laptop can run ddr4 3200 as stably ,the reason i guess is there is no heatsink cover on the memory module , laptop has limit space so it may overheat. Another reason i think is the voltage issue, i think it's not suitable to increase the memory voltage in a laptop. So ,refer to the feedback from many users ,ddr4 2933(3000) is the best stable freq. After menus unlocked ,you could try to load the XMP profile.

2. A laptop can't and don't allow oc processor.

3. If your operating system has Bitlocker enabled ,please disable it temporarily.

4. Make a bios dump with this tool then attach the file. (Run dump.bat as administrator)

I got gastroenteritis and run fever repeatedly a few days ago ,so i'm not feel good and no time to do bios mod ,now i'm feeling better.

@genius239,

Thanks for coming back on this!
The particular RAM (crucial ballistix 2x16GB) kit I have, only allows 2933 (or 3200)Mhz at 1.35V (XMP profile). As this is missing in my laptop BIOS, it only runs 2666Mhz @ 1.2V.
The only thing I'm hoping to achieve is to make the RAM kit run on 2933Mhz at least, but for that, it seems I need XMP enabled.
I'm not looking to overclock, and Bitlocker is disabled.
As you don't recommend changing the voltage of the RAM, It's probably better to look for a 32gb kit that does run 2933Mhz @1.2V? (the original kit 2x8GB does run at 2933Mhz and 1.2V)

@zoleeG

1. Attach the bios dump ,after the menus unlock you can try the memory tweak yourself then you will see the result. (The easiest way is load XMP profile.)

2. Increase voltage a long time may damage the circuit or mainboard. Remember this is not a desktop mainboard.

Hi @genius239,
Thanks for helping out!
For some reason, the attachment doesn't get saved... Tried in Chrome and edge (chromium), same issue.
Can you please grab it from the OP link? It's my google drive. I did use the tool you suggested to dump the ROM.
