[REQUEST] Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 & M91p and ThinkStation E30 (9HKTxxA) Whitelist Removal
#1
Hello Everyone,

Would anyone be willing to assist with removing the whitelist for video cards in the M91p bios? Current bios is the 9HKT58AUS bios. If there is a generic image that should work for this PC I would be willing to give that a try as well. I have attached the .rom used to get to the current bios version.

Thanks

Hello Alienwolfdog & mardsis,

I am going to move this thread to the WiFi/WWAN Whitelist Removal forum so that it can get attention from our whitelist removers.

!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!! Our Ukrainian friends are undergoing atrocities right now and need support. There are two things you can do for starters:

1.) Donate to one of various organizations offering medical, military, and psychological support to those impacted: Support Organizations

2.) Combat misinformation on social media.

Also, please feel free to PM me if I have not replied again about your BIOS mod request after 5 days.

Oh man I would be so grateful.
I just bought an asus rx480 4gb and a 600w power supply and the card is blocked and will not post in my m81.
The m81 uses the same bios as requested above.

But just in case here is my bios file for my model.
https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...y58usa.exe

If anyone could be so kind as to remove the gpu whitelist from this bios I would be forever grateful.

Thank you in advance for your hard work and knowledge.

I was directed here by another forum for my request.
https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads...st-1357325

I am trying to remove the whitelist from my BIOS to allow any GPU to be used. Currently I am unable to use a GTX 260 in it.

-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : IBM Lenovo M81 Desktop (ThinkCentre)
-Bios Revision : 9HKT54A OR Firmware ID 1AOQI013
-Bios Type : American Megatrends
-Bios SLIC :
-Bios Link : https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/9hjy58usa.exe
-Rw-everything report: http://www.datafilehost.com/d/5b0785ed

Thank you for the help!!!!

There is an Annoying white list on some Thinkcenter bioses (m81, m91, m91p) all seem to use the exact same bios.
And so all have this stupid white list..

Seems to really favour NVIDIA cards, (although older ones like the 260 probably wont work either)

But 90% of amd cards just will not work.
the sytem wont even post or error beep if a 270x is installed (thats the card im trying to use)
but i see anything newer than a 6xxx does not post.

Its a ridiculous issue really. theres no reason for this whitlelist to be in the bios at all..

As far as i can tel its an ami bios. but gets reported as "lenovo" "9HKT58AUS" in cpu-z

i can open the rom file with AMIBCP
but i cant see anything that i think is the whitelist. in there..

I also dont know if just deleting a whitelist if i can find the thing will mean that All cards will work, or if it will mean No cards will work.

So an help would be great.
Either edit the bios for me or let me know what i should be looking for to edit it my self.
And if all i need to do is add a hardware id to the white list or something??

i will add the latest bios file here.

PS,,

i found:
0x02E4     "detect non-compliance device"
0x02E5      "Detect non-compliance PCI Express Device in PEG"

Which are both under the PEG section..

i still cannot find where the compliant device list is, and im not sure i can just delete these things that i found.

EDIT
"ended up just changing the device id of the 270x to a 7870 id 'works fine now' "

Not sure this is the right thread or not??

Any way:

And if all i need to do is add a hardware id to the white list or something??

i cannot add the latest bios file here as it says its to large "less than 2mb though".
but here it is on the web site:
https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...t58usa.zip

P.S

i found:
0x02E4 "detect non-compliance device"
0x02E5 "Detect non-compliance PCI Express Device in PEG"

Which are both under the PEG section..

i still cannot find where the compliant device list is, and im not sure i can just delete these strings that i found and then it would just work??
