Hei. Can anyone edit 1.51 BIOS and add
WLAN whitelist removed - can use any wireless card
1600MHz & 1866MHz RAM support
16GB RAM Support, stable with an eGPU
+ also remove SSD/HDD problem (I can use OCZ Agility 3, compatibility issue during booting)
and eventually add some features for OS X Support
MSR 0xE2 Unlock (Apple PM Fix)

It'd be fantastic if the ThinkPad T420 BIOS version 1.51 could be modded to remove the WiFi whitelist. I didn't think before updating my BIOS and now I can't use an Intel 7260 AC WiFi/Bluetooth PCI-E card.

I tried to mod the current bios 1.52, but can't flash it after modification. It seems I missed something. Can somebody help me with it?
Shortly I made the following steps:
1. Got the bios package from the lenovo site
2. Unpacked the *.FL1 file and used phoenixtool to extract bios modules.
3. Modified the *.ROM file responsible for checking of the white list. (using ida and hex editor)
4. Then packed packed files into *.FL1 file once more using the phoenixtool
Then, when I tried to flash it using WINUPTP.exe /S option, the process fails with error 102, something about writing error
Tried to flash it using winphlash.exe program, which is also fails with some EFI error
(I also tried to use UEFItool for packing/unpacking the bios file, but with almost similar result)
May be there are more files, which should be edited in bios? Can somebody help me with the issue?
Edit:
I figured it out - the file environment.dll should also be patched to allow flashing of the modded bios. It works now.

Here are the modded bios 1.52. Modded only the part responsible for checking the whitelist. Use it at your own risk, it worked on my pc but I have no option to check it on another t420.

I've downloaded from zmb's link the mod Bios 1.52. Formal 1.52 was not be able to update since WinFlash64.sys didn't work on the latest windows10. So did this mod bios. I have extra HDD and old windows8pro DVD. I installed W8 and tried to update BIOS with the mod bios. I was able to update seven T420 of my own(seven is seven, 7). I just kicked WINUPTP.exe under Administrator on the W8.
I answered yes for prompting replace the file .....FL1(?). Half of my T420 group have Intel Wireless-AC 7260 Network Card. It seems working.

Sorry, Network card was wireless-AC 7260 with 51pin off.
