Error 280: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space!
So Eeprom Chip is Write Protect We can try only using WinUpTP /s !
Alternative is the SPI Programmer and Clip . . .
I will upload a Bios Mod quickly !

Here You go :

http://rghost.net/84Vy7GDyg

To flash Bios Mod do in this way copy this folder and rename It as mod into root HD C:\ place
then open a CLI window (Comand Prompt) with Admin Rights and execute these comands
(HIT ENTER after any comand) :

cd \

cd C:\mod

WinUpTp.exe /s

let me know
Regards

P.S. If You will get error then only SPI Programmer can rewrite It back !

Hi!

I've spent some time reading some Thinkpad whitelist removal threads and I'm wondering if it is possible to achieve BIOS flash on the Lenovo x1 2015?
The main issue is to get a Broadcom Dell DW1560 M.2 WLAN card to work on this x1 laptop (for native use in OSX).

I'm willing to get a HW SPI programmer with a clip but I might not be able to desolder the chip myself if that were to be required.

I've also read that some users couldn't flash their BIOS due to "over-current" errors on recent machines like the x1 2015. Any feedbacks about this specific problem?

If flashing the Thinkpad BIOS is not feasible, would it be possible to modify the Dell DW1560 wireless card firmware to match a whitelisted Lenovo card with the same chip? => also Broadcom BCM94352Z but a slightly different M.2 connector...

Thanks for your advices!

Hi! Finally back with all the required material.
I couldn't manage to software flash my X1 (20BS) BIOS

So I opened it :
I found only one chip that seems to qualify for a bios chip : I can read 25Q128A 13ECO G0 CHN
The CH341A programmer seems to detect a ST M25P10A chip with only 128KB/1MB which I think is a wrong value...

I tried to read and save the BIOS using a 25Q128 profile to get a 16MB bin file which I uploaded here :
http://rghost.net/8lN46y6b4

Is that file usable for you guys?
If it is, could you please remove the whitelist from that file? And unlock hidden bios features if you can?

Thanks for your help Smile
