Original Haswell and Haswell Refresh CPUs use common microcode.
Version 0x17 is compatible with your i5-4210M.
BIOS E16GDIMS.707 for motherboard MS-16GD supports your CPU - http://browser.geekbench.com/geekbench3/5422294
So you have hardware problem, not with BIOS.

Motherboard MS-16GD is used in many MSI laptops.

Oh thank you for details for version of microcode!

I believe that motherboard has some variations like SSD place i have picture in other and if looking specs they have different nvidia gpu.

I will still check. Thank you.

My laptop original most new vs 709

IntelGopDriver is 1.0.3.6 on both.. is identical.
IntelSaGopDriver does differences on these two...
vbios sadly and disappointly are identical too on these two 2179.

709 vs 707

IntelGopDriver are same
IntelSaGopDriver differences.. hmm..
vbios are identical

Trying next 707 if that makes difference.

No i haven't? What is this? That other eeprom looking chip elsewhere on mb (other side ouch) with red blob done by marker?

Yes it is closed by ENE chip.. i will google about this.

Thank you my offer still stands if EC writing solves this tomorrow i will try flashing it.. which actually looks like high possibility now as you told hardware problem...

Good that MSI has thought everything! There is clear service hole under keyboard so i dont need disassembly whole thing.. hehe

You can try to use native BIOS and this new EC firmware.

Yes surely i will but first i will make socket for that bios chip and buy dip packaged chip as its kinda lame always solder it no matter if it takes just little time..  Angel

UPDATE: Info for users.. EC is fine with this laptop. But bios is not! Better use native bios (i now using modified for newest things..) as nvidia gpu doesn't like and when you install drivers you can notice this by that RIGHT drivers wont detect your gpu! And if you install wrong ones.. Win7 at boot will get BSOD and Win8 you get BSOD even right at installing drivers.

I can now use directly AFUD238S.exe for flashing with DOS made boot usb stick.. doesn't matter what old bios was. It will go over it.
