Your new bios: Sabertooth-x58-asus-1402-moded(with Xeon CPU Support).rom
Update was not nice, but ok
 Update done .........
 Thank you again.
Second thing ! I'm happy that this thing starts to work somehow, this is a real progress !
Unfortunately is bad that u replied to me so late, cause i thought that u were unable to successful update your BIOS and didn't came back here
So i delete all the files from this small project of this BIOS with Xeon CPU Support. Well, this is not a big problem !
 Alright !
 So !
 You said that.

biere666 Wrote: Your new bios: Sabertooth-x58-asus-1402-moded(with Xeon CPU Support).romLet me clear some moments in update process. When there is a new .rom of like ... Marvel SATA controller in BIOS, after update and restart it will start to update the specific controller with a new .rom inserted in modified BIOS, so it might looks like that computer freezes, but its not, so you just have to give it a few minutes for update to finish.Update was not nice, but ok
Update done with an I7 950
Computer freeze with a black screen at post at reboot after bios update.
 After a cold power off
Then i power on, it update The Sata Marvell controller, then freeze.
 After a cold power off
Then i power on, put back AHCI in bios.
After all these, The computer start ok. bios updated, Marvell sata updated.

 Next

biere666 Wrote: If you think you can modify your moded bios to support fully the E5620, i will be your beta tester again, if the E5620 work, i may get a X5675 (6 cores) to make compatibilty test. I don' remember what BIOS motherboard i used as a donor for the first time, so now i will use P6T7 WS SuperComputer 's BIOS as a basis... So
get X5675 CPU as you will make another tests on this board. And i hope that new BIOS will have the full support of E5620 CPU as well.

Ok, here is it, the new BIOS with CPU Microcode from WS Supercomputer.

I will test this new bios this week and come back to you.

Thank you.

Thanks from me tooo. Registered just so I could get this. However, it doesn't fix my issue of a Crucial M4 256Gb SSD (brand new, arrived today) not booting windows properly. If I use the Intel ICH10 then all is fine and Win 7 boots properly. Otherwise hangs.

In linux I see ATA errors when the Crucial is plugged in. If I use a Sandisk Extreme on the Marvell chip, I have no issues running Win 7.

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks in advance,

You are welcome. I am glad I could help out.

I got no ideas about the SSD on this board. But from what I read, you are just better off using the Intel controller for SSD regardless. Personally I have a pair of Western Digital Black hard drives in a RAID mirror that benchmark better on the Marvell controller.

When I decided to go SSD, I went with the RevoDrive3. I already knew the SATA 6G/s Marvell controller on this board was crap. I got lucky with a few extra dollars and a nice sale.

I can say this though: had I gotten a SATA 6G/s SSD drive, i would have connected it to each of the controllers for benchmarks before deciding.

		I see this
"Marvel 91xx updated Bootloader v1.0.1.0002b Firmware v2.2.0.1125b AHCI ROM v1.0.0.1033 Intel RST RAID ROM v11.2.0.1527 JMicron JMB36x RAID ROM v1.0.7.28"

...but now my sabertooth x58 hackintosh with X5670 xeon does not recognize the marvell or Jmicron ports. Do you know why? I dont really use them anyway but I just want to know. Thanks.
