Sabertooth X58 Bios mod
#11
Hi , Ive faced with the same problem. I have X58 motherboard on latest BIOS and RevoDrive 120G on latest ( 6.6.x ) ROM. RevoDrive boots only if Intel controller are disabled at all or in IDE/AHCI mode. So I ready to play with BIOS.
There an question to forum users. Does affect killing boot logo from bios image on avaiable memory for ROM ? Additional ROM are loaded in BIOS adress space ? Where I can get more tecnical information ?

UPD:

Situation are still the same. I am played with bios and stuck. I am changed Intel 82801 SATA RAID Controller BIOS to almost all versions , smallest are 77kb but this dont help. Also have killed all other stuff like network rom / jmicron rom / marvel rom / bootogo from bios image. This also wont help. Last thing I have aid - integrated silicon image3124 ROM but see same error message twice. I think that first one from PCI-E board and second one from my integrated ROM bios. Size of revodrive bios are smaller than intel ICH10 but it wont to load it ;-(

Thank you so much! I just bought a new Crucial M4 256 GB to pair up with my existing one, and ran into trouble with my Revodrive when I switched from AHCI to RAID. This ROM fixed it Smile

Hi,
I need a moded Asus Sabertooth X58 1402 (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1...S-1402.zip)
with the lastest firmware for the Marvell 91XX SATA 6G controller. (i think it is a good link : http://win-lite.de/benutzer/fernando/ROM...1001033.7z).

Thank you.

The E6 module in the BIOS is a lengthened (mostly by FF bytes) version of the LOADER and I assume the E7 module is either just PROGRAM1 or PROGRAM0+PROGRAM1 but I think it's too risky for me to play around with this myself. You should be able to make your own bootable disc and update it manually. Though I'm not sure why you'd use Marvell over Intel... Even if your Intel board has only 3Gbps ports, it still has better random performance than Marvell.

My english is poor, i will try the best i can...

On a other X58 asus motherboard with Intel ICH10R but without any onboard SATA3 controller, I got better performance from an add-on pci-e card with marvell 9123 chip on it with firmware updated to 1.0.0.1043 and marvell driver 1.2.0.1027 WHQL against the onboard Intel ICH10R with the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.

(Takes notes that the Marvell 1.2.0.1027 driver is fully compatible with lastest Intel SSD Toolbox, but the latest driver 1.2.0.1032 is not, making the ssd toolbox not able to see my intel 330 180gb ssd, but i tested the speed with 1.0.0.1032 with about the same results for reading and writing.)

Seeing faster results from a sata3 pci-e addon card with tha same marvell chipset (9123), i tried many times to update the Marvell Firmware on my Sabertooth X58 with a bootable USB using the same firmware utilities from two websites.

I did all my tries with the bios 1201, 1304 and 1402 bios and no disk was connected on the controller.

I tested all the firmware updates files from these two urls:

Marvell 91xx (SATA3) AHCI/RAID ROM modules section of:
http://www.win-lite.de/wbb/board208-spec...extracted/

and

the Marvell MV-91xx 92xx (88SE91xx/92xx) Ahci/Raid Controller section of:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/marvell.htm

About all the times when i type go.bat to start the firmware update at the dos command prompt to flash the 91xx controller, all run ok and i got the succefull message, and at reboot i got the message that the mainboard is updating the ATA controller with succes and reboot by itself, but every time at boot the firmware version of the Marvell SATA3 controller always show vesron 1.0.0.1019... It should show 1.0.0.1029 or higher... Update sucessfull but not effective...

I got 3 Sabertooth X58 motherboard, two of them are not in a computer ( no more cpu for these board), so i am ready to take the risk to update with a bios that will not be without risk of broking the motherboard but that may really update the marvell 91xx sata 3 controller.

So my request is:
A bios mod for my Asus Sabertooth X58 1402 (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1...S-1402.zip)
with the lastest firmware for the Marvell 91XX SATA 6G controller that will fit in the 1402 bios.

Firmware updates files for the marvell sata controller are available on the two URL above.

Thank you.

Hello everybody !!! So seems like everyone of you are busy with preparing to new year celebration, and don't have for some internet activity, and thats right !! I'm going to prepare myself as well for this wonderful new year that comes !

Well, as i said i want my computer UP and RUN till 1'st january, so i decide to do this not simple job by my self. I did some research over the google, and found some tutorials on how to modify BIOS. Well, i did read everything so i did apply my new knowledge to a practice.

In the final, i got what i want !!! I did successful modify BIOS, added Marvell 88SE91XX new 1033 Firmware image.

I did also successful update my BIOS with integrated tool of Asus motherboard, after BIOS update computer restarted and i saw the new version of Marvell's controller up and WORK ! (See attachments).

After computer boot's to windows it has done some new installation of something, i did not mention. But it seems like it was because of the new FW of Marvell controller.

Hope you will appreciate my work guys !

Biere666 - Special to you:

Take a look at this new FW for NEC USB 3.0 firmware (see attachment).
Also the new drivers for 88SE91XX controller (see attachment).

The new drivers for NEC USB 3.0, take a look Here

So finally the BIOS itself. The modified BIOS for Sabertooth X58 1402 with FW BIOS 1.0.0.1033 version for 88SE91XX chipset.

Also you can download this BIOS from an external link.

Happy New Year everybody !

I have what you need. I am running the Saberooth x58 and I did the mods you requested with the latest bios for my own system. I have been running this for over a month without any issue.

The ROM is:
BIOS Rev. 1402
Marvell 91xx AHCI ROM module 1.0.0.1033
(Marvell 91xx firmware 2.2.0.1125b)
(Marvell 91xx bootloader 1.0.1.0002b)

Intel RST RAID ROM v11.2.0.1527
JMicron JMB36x RAID ROM v1.0.7.28

Updating Marvell controller will take a LONG time on the initial boot up. Eventually it will say successful. When it does, you can restart the computer.
