#21
Please try this. You'll need:-
  1. USB Floppy Drive & floppy disk.
  2. phlash16.exe (taken from Acer Aspire 3680 BIOS Recovery.rar from post #16)
  3. BIOS file (R2080J8F.WPH from post #14)

What you need to do:-
  1. Put both R2080J8F.WPH & phlash16.exe file in a floppy disk.
  2. Plugged in USB floppy drive with floppy disk inserted to your Sony Vaio notebook.
  3. Power on your notebook.
  4. Let your notebook running for 15 minutes.

If you use my modified BIOS image & you like it, please consider making a donation. Thank you very much. Smile

HI ALL ,

i have most versions of the PHLASH.EXE and i thought this might be only wrong PHLASH version problem .

this is the crisis disk with various PHLASH.EXE versions just open WINCRISE.EXE and this will automatically copy PHLASH16.EXE , BIOS.WPH and MINIDOS.SYS to the 2GB FAT32 FORMATTED USB STICK .

if it failed , rename the PHLASH1A.EXE to phlash16.EXE and open the wincrise.exe again...........etc .
try this for all phlash.exe ( phlash1a , phlash1b........etc ) till it flashes .........you should see the usb LED turning on and off to knew it`s flashing the bios .

ALSO , REMOVE HDD , DVD , NEW BATTERY AND ONLY PLUG THE AC POWER AND PUT THE USB STICK THEN POWER ON AND SEE IF IT FLASHED THE BIOS .

- FIRST , TRY THE METHOD WHICH KIZWAN HAS POSTED IN HIS REPLY THEN IF IT FAILED , TRY THIS METHOD .

Attached Files
.rar   Phoenix_Crisys_Disk.rar (Size: 1.09 MB / Downloads: 37)

Thanks all,
I would like to bring one thing to your notice that except for CD/DVD rom nothing is actually being read.
The USB drive or USB floppy drive does not blink or read. The CD/DVD reads quite for some time about nearing 1 minute(if a C.D or DVD is inserted).
I tried putting Kizwans guided method in a CD, but it did not work, but all the time it tried to read the CD.
no other drives are being read.

1 - rename the bios file to BIOS.WPH

2- open WINCRISE.EXE and choose your 2GB usb stick the start .

3- remove battery , HDD , CD-ROM and only plug your crisis usb stick and the AC power .

4- power on your notebook , you should see the USB LED turning on and of for about 10 minutes .

5- if this fails , try another phlash.exe version .

try this and i`m waiting your reply .

try different 2GB usb stick formatted as FAT ................and if it fails , there will be no solution except changing the motherboard as the bios chip is soldered and not removable .

Without the motherboard schematic, I'm unable to tell you which one is the BIOS chip. I also don't know the maker/brand of the BIOS chip on your notebook.
(08-07-2011, 11:28 AM)kizwan Wrote: OK. That doesn't work. Please try this method.

What you need are:-
  1. USB floppy drive
  2. A floppy disk
  3. A computer with Windows XP

What you need to do:-
  1. Download "BIOS recovery" package in this post.
  2. DO NOT FOLLOW THE BIOS RECOVERY PROCEDURE FOR ACER ASPIRE 3680.
  3. Extract the Acer Aspire 3680 BIOS Recovery.rar in Windows XP.
  4. Rename the R2080J8F_SLIC.WPH file to BIOS.WPH.
  5. Replaced the BIOS.WPH file in the CRISDISK folder with the BIOS.WPH file from no. 4.
  6. Plugged in the "USB floppy drive" with floppy disk inserted.
  7. Go to CRISDISK folder, run WINCRIS.EXE, select the floppy disk in "Driver" & click "Start" to create the CRISIS disk.
  8. After you have created the CRISIS disk, plugged in the "USB floppy drive" with floppy disk (CRISIS disk) inserted at your Sony notebook. (Make sure your Sony notebook in power off state.)
  9. Power on your notebook & let it run for 15 minutes.

If you don't have floppy disk, try with USB flash drive. If the BIOS is not recovered with USB flash drive, try with "USB floppy drive" & with a floppy disk. Please follow the procedure correctly.
Please try this procedure again with some changes which are:-
- Must use floppy disk
- At no. 9, please follow this procedure:-
  1. Hold Fn+Esc keys, plugged in AC adapter & press the power button.
  2. After you see USB floppy drive indicator (LED) light up, released the Fn+Esc keys.
  3. Let it run for 15 minutes.

If Fn+Esc keys doesn't work, try hold End key.

Sorry to post in an old thread, but I didn't know if I should start a new one or just ask here. I'm looking for a good, stable modified BIOS for a VGN-AR630E. Can somebody provide me with a download? Kizwan, you seem to really know your stuff. Do you think you can help?
Thanks
