Hello HydrogenSlush,

Your BIOS mod is complete! The modified BIOS image archive can be found at the bottom of this post.

I have unlocked the hidden INTEL menu and have also added a few new settings to the Advanced Menu.

Precautions/Disclaimers:
Quote:Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the BIOS image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that [if applicable] your notebook is fully charged (100%), that the power adapter is properly connected, and that the chance of a power outage occurring is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is good practice to have a working CRISIS recovery disk handy when flashing your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result or consequence of your, or any one else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

Please remember to post the results of the BIOS flash!

Wow - thank you so much for the quick response Steven.

I'll have a go with it once I've finished work and of course will post the results of the flash.

Thanks again

Hi Steven

Flashed using FreeDOS, renamed the Modded BIOS to match the original, used the .bat installer and it worked a treat - menus are now opened up. I had been led to believe that I'd be able to enable VT-X once the BIOS was unlocked (I'm currently limited to 32-bit in VirtualBox), however, there's no VT-X option there so looks like I need an upgrade, which I suspected might be the case.

Just wanted to say thanks again for your quick response and the speed with which you were able to produce the modded BIOS - it's very much appreciated.

Cheers

Hello HydrogenSlush,

There may be a special function in the BIOS code that is hiding the VT-x setting. I can disable that function and re-upload the BIOS mod. That usually fixes the issue, provided the processor supports VT-x. Which processor version does your notebook have? I tried checking the Acer website, but there are several different processors that are installed in the 7730 product line.

Hi again Steven

Sorry for the delay in responding - been away and not had an internet connection. I've checked and the processors are the T5800 which I've since confirmed doesn't support VT-x. Thanks again for all your help with this.

Thank you very much for the modified BIOS.
Unfortunately it did not resolve my issue. My problem, I cannot install any Windows or Linux operating system, the installation freeze at some point and installation never get finished.
The only one I could install was Windows10_1511_10586_x64_Prof, but after, I cannot install any other application (Chrome , VLC) the notebook freeze again.
Do yo have any idea what the issue can be?
I changed the CPU to T9900

Thanks
