A Learning Guide for Using Modbin6 for Award BIOS

If the .rom file is still an Award bios , you can launch a CMD prompt and then navigate to the correct directory and execute

modbin6 bios.rom

this will open the ROM in modbin , but it will only work if the ROM is Award bios. Generally , ROM files are AMI bioses , in which case you want AMIBCP

It says it's a PhoenixBIOS (HP Pavilion 6635), it does not say Award so I guess I'm out of luck. Confused

Hi guys,

I used the Modbin6 tool to mod an Award bios that I have for an Asus M2A-VM board. I followed the instructions accordingly and then rechecked to see if after unlocking features and saving the 2302.bin file it would still work in Modbin6. The 2302.bin file opened without any problems so I then proceeded to use it to flash my bios as I've normally done in the past using AwdFlash through a USB stick.

AWDFLASH 2302.BIN /PY/SN/CC/CD/CP/R

But once it's done flashing and reboots the bios won't load and simply states that the bios.rom file has a checksum error and then it tries to look for a disc/floppy/usb to reflash the bios. I then reflash the bios with the unmodded 2302.bin file and everything goes back to normal. I've tried to do another clean mod of the bios using Modbin6 about 3 times and then reflashing but it is always unsuccessful and states the error mentioned above.

What I'm I doing wrong guys? Confused

Why don't you make a seprate post in the AWARD unlock section, as we will be able to better assess the situation with all the information there.

Thanks for the great article. Can someone please post a link for downloading the modbin6 software that doesn't involve rapidshare? I have googled and found it nowhere else.

Ok I REALLY new to this, all Im trying to do is my my old dell optiplex gx260 to boot off one of those SATA/IDE cards because I am so dumb I bought the wrong HD.
I have a couple of questions if I could ask please?
I downloaded the mod program, I downloaded 3 versions of the A09 BIOS I just flashed the other day, packed, floppy and unpacked because Im not sure which one to use. I cant seem to be able to extract the bin file and when I click the EXE, well I dont want to go there. Can you please tell me how to load the file?
and where to put it when Im done so I can do the flash? I need to get my PCI slots to be a boot option so I can boot off my HD attached to the card. I may need to flash some kind of bios on the card also? It works just fine as long as I have 1 hd attached to the IDE and the other to the card.

I believe that Dell does not use an award bios, unless you ahve inclinations otherwise, so I don't think the dell bios modules are even extractable with this tool, nor any other I can think of.

Correct me if it is award please
