[REQUEST] Lenovo X220 (8DETxxWW) Whitelist Removal
(09-26-2017, 11:13 PM)masteroskillio Wrote: Hey man, thanks for the mod, I can't get it to work on my PC though. From windows 10 x64 I tried running the v1.43 version on my x220 and after I installed the original 1.43 bios and when I go to click on the flash.bat file and run as admin I can see a cmd window flash on my screen for a split second and then nothing happens. The cmd window flashes too quickly for me to read anything in it. Any ideas on how I can get it to work?
I realize this reply is pretty late, but here's what you need to do:

1. Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) as administrator
2. Navigate to the Modified bios folder using the command prompt
3. Type Flash.bat

Good afternoon!
Can you specify, please, whether the modified BIOS solves the problem with non-native batteries (warning about non-native battery and lack of charging)

Is it a thing on X220? I thought chipped batteries are used only for X230 and onwards.
If it is, this BIOS does not solve the issue.

Hello Sirs,
First of all, thanks for the mod, it worked for me, in a way, however, I may need some assistance: I have an X220 with hungarian keyboard layout. I did everything as was described here: http://x220.mcdonnelltech.com/resources/
Exactly:
- tried to install "original" BIOS: the installer said I already have the latest one, so I went to step2:
- installed the modified one: the process completed perfectly
- entered BIOS setup: found the "Advanced" menu, hooray, it worked
Now I have two problems:
1. The keyboard layout seems to have gone crazy: for "klm" keys the notebook types "123" and so on. I have Win10 installed, and have an USB keyboard connected (that's what I'm typing from now") However it's still irritating that the "normal" notebook keyboard layout changed. Is there an easy fix to that? I have tried "Advanced" menu from BIOS where I have two options: "US", and "CUSTOMER". The default was US, I changed it to "CUSTOMER" but it does not solve anything.
2. I have installed an AzureWave Broadcom BCM94352HMB AW-CE123H module in place of the original WiFi card. The WiFi works like a charm, my download and upload speeds are racing. However, it should also have Bluetooth 4.0 on this card, which I can't get to work with any drivers. My device manager sais "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Is there a way to make it work? Strangely, I can connect my phone to the notebook with bluetooth, but the first entry in my device manager under "Bluetooth" that sais "Bluetooth Module" has an exclamation mark under it, and the properties say:
Device type: Bluetooth,
Manufacturer: Broadcom
Location: Port_#0003.Hub_#0005
Device status:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful"
Any help is deeply appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

You have numlock enabled. Disable it by pressing fn+ScrLk (to the right from Print Screen).

You probably need to tape pin 51 on it.

WoW!
1. That's what I call quick fix. Big Grin Thank You, it seemed to work. I didn't push all the buttons to check, but now my keyboard layout seems to be OK.
2. Ok, I'll try that tomorrow. I've read about this "tape over thing" but hoped, that I won't have to mess with this. I've read that some people used nail polish for this, but if I have to resort to such measures, I'd like to do something more reversible. Maybe some small duck tape or whatever.
Thank You very much for the quick response, I'll get back with the results.

Quick question to point 2: I guess it's a strictly hardware specific problem, is it? Just because I have a dual boot system with a Debian Linux as second OS, and the next step will be to set up WiFi and BT for the new card on that too.

This is a Windows driver problem or whatever. You don't need to disable pin 51 if you use Linux.

Well, I’d like to use both. That’s the point of a dual boot system. Smile
I hope though that pin 51 is not necessary for BT under Linux. That would be a catch 22...
Than You!

Update: I've managed to tape over pin 51 on the card. I used a tiny piece of electrical tape. Actually, it was easier than I expected, since pin 51 stands alone on this card, so I didn't have to worry about accidentally covering any neighboring pins. I started the machine with Windows 10, went to device manager, and updated the driver (chose online update). The driver was updated, and the machine asked for a reboot. I rebooted, but the problem was still there. Then I chose to disable the built in "Thinkpad Bluetooth 3.0" device and the "Bluetooth Module", then did an update again on the latter, did another restart, and... voila!... the Bluetooth Module works. Smile
Now I'm wondering if it was really the pin 51 the problem, or simply the system couldn't manage the two BT modules in the laptop together. But I don't really care, it works at last. Since BT on this card is BT 4.0, I'm happy with it. Smile
Now comes the linux part...
@ValdikSS: thank you very much for the tips!
