[REQUEST] HP Erica6 AMI bios 8906 vF.03
#21

Hello Bryan,

I am not familiar with the keyboard shortcuts that HP laptops use for accessing the hidden Advanced2 or Chipset Menus. It was a great suggestion, but I'm not sure how to figure out what the key is.

In Phoenix UEFI (your computer's BIOS is AMI UEFI), there are several sets of menu listings that can be chosen from (usually there are 2 or 3 different lists of possible BIOS menus). I think that the non-default listing(s) are accessed with a special keyboard combination or by accessing some kind of manufacturer mode, but AMI UEFI controls displayed menus differently. To add new menus, references to those menus often must be removed from "block lists" or bits must be change that disable certain menus. Thus, I am unsure if most AMI UEFI even have a special keyboard key.

With Phoenix UEFI, I could probably brush up a little on disassembly skills and figure out what the keyboard code (not the key itself, but close) is if the logic isn't too complicated/hidden. With AMI UEFI, I wouldn't even know where to start.

If you do figure out something about this though, please let me know as this would be impactful information for a lot of people.

New strategy: Change offset 0xC4 (should be on the first page) from whatever it is to "0A" in the UEFI Variable page titled "AmdSetup". ***Before you do this, write down the old value!***

This should change the UMA Frame Buffer Size setting to "2GB".

Credits to Genius239 for suggesting the use of the AmdSetup page instead of PchSetup (which doesn't appear in AMD platforms).

Let me know how this goes (as well as what the old value was).

Current value is FF,and changing it does not affect anything. Also I attached list of variables in zip file.

Thanks for this info. Question - did you press "Ctrl" and "W" on the keyboard at the same time after making the edit? If so, when you restart, is the change that you made still there?
