Request: ASUS Rampage III Formula Marvell Update
#11
Instead of editing my last reply I made a new one.

When I got home this evening I ran some more tests comparing the Intel Controller to the Marvell Controller.

My conclusions:
The Intel controller had much smoother results and consistently higher writes then the Marvell Controller.

Analysis:
Even though the Marvell controller had higher reads, they were sporadic and sometimes fell short of Intel's results. You can see this on the 256 Length test. In the past I have done these same benchmarks with Microsoft's AHCI driver on the Marvell controller but the writes were still at least 20MB off of what Intel gave me. From now on I will be using my OCZ Vertex 3 on the Intel SATA 2 controller

Intel AHCI Controller Driver: 10.6.0.1002
Marvell AHCI Controller Driver: 1.2.0.1016

All tests were done using the modified BIOS with the updated option ROM's.

That's pretty much consistant with Every test that compares the two controllers.

Thanks for the Modded Bios DMAN, looks promising...

i have little question, I saw the AMI Bios Mod.txt inside the Bios RAR package

Do we NEED to flash with the dos utility?, or can we use the Asus Flash Utility (or EZ Flash) that comes built into the BIOS? I always flash my bios with the util that comes built into the Bios...but since it's the 1st time I will be flashing a bios mod I was wondering if it was the same...

thanks in advance

Does anyone have this ASUS_Rampage_III_Formula_0903_OROMS_ASUS_SLIC_2.1_SSV3.rar BIOS file created by DMAN in their resources yet? I would be very grateful if someone would upload this file again. I know it was a long time ago Smile
