[Request] HP Prodesk 600 G3 (DM) Mini/Micro Bios for 65w 7th Gen Processor
#1
Hi all, first post here and my final resort before selling off my setup.

I have a HP Prodesk 600 G3 (DM) Mini/Micro computer. I'm tried to upgrade the CPU on one as a test to an I7-7700 and received issues/errors. It fits - socket LGA 1151

Originally, I thought there was reports of this motherboard supporting non-"T" chips of 7th generation, but I'm experiencing what I believe is a power restriction.

The CPU that is currently in it is a 35w variant (i5-6500T).

When I swap the I7-7700 into it, I receive beep codes that indicate a power issue. I cut and create a custom power adaptor that should be able to power this 65w processor (130W) and I do not believe it's the issue.
  • I tried updating the bios to the latest version (no success with I7-7700)
  • Removed CMOS battery, Bios reset (no success)
  • Reseated the CPU and inspected for bent pins, etc. (no issues found).

Is it possible to force these bios to accept the 65w CPU? I do not see any custom bios available. It appears the Elitedesk Variant (not Prodesk) is able to accept the 65w processor based on other reports online. Also, the SFF variant this same model (non micro/mini) can accept 65w processors as well.

Thank you,

- Reid
