Acer Aspire E380 R01-C0 With Unlocked Overclocking Options

First attempt to follow recovery instructions on our site, and if this fails then we can reprogram your chip with the modified BIOS at our chip reprogramming page. Also, this thread should be closed really, because the unlocked BIOS is in the other section where you should've flashed.

Question about making the flash dos drive:

I d/l & installed the HP utility, as well as the Win98. I unzipped the Win98 to my desktop, then run the HP as an admin.

The flash drive comes up (H on my system), says it'll store as a FAT, and then asks for the folder for the Dos image. I choose the Win98 folder on the desktop, click okay...

...but after it's formated, and I check to see if the right dos files are on the drive, there's nothing there. I've checked the folder options to reveal hidden files, and still nothing.

Am I doing it wrong? Should it be FAT32? Should the Win98 go on the C drive instead of the C drive?

I'm running an acer e-380 with an AMD 6000+, xfx8600gt, and 3 meg of G. Skill mem--2 sticks of 1gig (800/pc6400) each and 2 sticks of 512k (800/pc6400) each. The comments about the memory on Newegg state that the voltage needs to be 1.9 for dual channel (don't even know if the mobo supports it or not). According to speccy, my voltages are at 1.8. I also notice in speccy that the MHz is around 400.

Obviously, I'm new to all this stuff, so if I just made a fool of myself, forgive me.

Welcome to the forums Jack!

In regards to the system files not showing up on the USB, its because you must also heck off show operating system files, not just show hidden files. If you ran the program and there aren't any errors you can be confident the USB will boot. This BIOS does support either 1.8v or 1.9v, so you shouldn't have any troubles.

solution was simple.. default graphic settings in this bios is 'PCI' and i don't have a PCI card, it's PCI-E.. pulled out the PCI-E card so it would hopefully turn to onboard graph and it did so i could alter the appropriate settings.. noise thing was as simple as turning the automatic fan function on..

Just 1 other thing though.. the original bios let me run 2 raid sets (4channel sata) and now i seem te be stuck at only 1 (2channel sata)..

Is there any way to get the 4channel raid option back in this?
