Sorry, I don't know either.
(09-06-2011, 07:24 AM)thom_anderson Wrote: Also, I think it is relevant to mention that my computer started to shut down for 2-3 seconds slowlier with the new modded BIOS and my Lan Network becomes unresponsive.

I get it to connected and then, no packets received. Then I have to manually disable it and enable it, and then it works.

? Huh
The only different with the modified BIOS is the hidden settings now visible. With original BIOS these settings are hidden but their settings are loaded into CMOS/NVRAM every boot. The modified BIOS doesn't cause problem on the LAN network device.

Unfortunately, whatever I change is not reflected in Everest, Aida64, Hw32Info ...
I am not even sure that changes take effect. Anything we could do ?Confused

I don't know. Without the chipset datasheet, we don't know anything.

Hi folks. Bad news for us owners of this VIA chipset. This one uses FastStream64 technology that uses prefetch on memory registers (or something like that) to make it work like dual channel (or even better some people say...). Soooo no luck with that. With VIA chipsets you have to look for the ones with DualStream64 for Dual Channel.

The OEM MB Skew Control is for adjusting the PLL delay in fractions of seconds I believe, which seems of no relevance... but Some time ago I sow on Internet that it is for locking frequencies (FSB I believe) so I'm imagining that in conjunction with the INTERNAL FREQUENCY MULTIPLIER it could change the FSB! But its all guessing, who knows...

Hey, UnoLock have you managed to change any settings in your modded BIOS? What was the effect?

I believe my BIOS does not accept set values. Undecided

Kizwan,

dude, sorry for annoying you. But in more detail what do you need in the datasheet of an chipset? Capabilties? Specific parts?

I think I could locate some specs for the parts on it, but that is as far as it goes.

UnoLock,

I emailed VIA and also put a request on their website for the datasheet. I did not get any reply or response. Sad

What else could we do? Taking computer apart and locating specific hardware pieces?

Regarding the datasheet, I'm not looking just the specification. I want to know the available registers use to configure the chipset.

Yes, I can change the memory settings and others and is reflected on benchmarking software.

The first time I wrote to VIA they told me that the datasheet was discontinued and the second time they sent me to their forums the sons of their mothers, which of course say nothing about this.
I think that the only way to get the datasheet is to search the net or from someone who has it already.

I'm thinking that like we have the same machine maybe Kizwan could look to my BIOS and compare to yours and see the difference on the memory management area.
I think that the problem relays on the on board video and the memory shared (just a guess). But this could be dangerous and is up to Kizwan if he has the time. Regards.

Looks like there is nothing that could be done without the datasheets.

I guess this is the end of it. Thanks Kizwan. Smile

Sorry lads but my Fujitsu Amilo Pro v3515 is dead due to failed bios update. Can anyone share what is the bios recovery mode key combination (AKA CRISIS MODE RECOVERY - Fn+(???) ).

Thanks
