Acer Aspire M5100 R01-A3
#61
It sounds like 1234s282's R02-B1 bios is failing, did anyone manage to get it working?

Any chance of getting 'flashtools_acer_aspire_m5100_modded_bios_R02-B1_by_ouaisouais' re-uploaded?

Also, the link to 'acer_aspire_m5100_modded_bios_R01-A1_by_ouaisouais.rar' has died.

I think we should start from scrath with Rev. B, because the A. was pretty bad as well. I think its only a particular setting causing this, so I'll get back to you.

Thanks,

MB S/N: Blank (Null)
System Manufature Name: Acer
Main Board ID: F690GVM
SMBIOS Version: 2.4
System Bios Version: 6.00 PG

Bios Release Date: 10/10/2007

Attached is my original bios backup. No modifications done.

.zip   awdbios.zip (Size: 345.03 KB / Downloads: 92)

I am wondering if anyone has a matching bios with unlocked features and such. Or is willing to modify this one??!?

I am excited to get this going asap!!!

My computer needs Windows 7 installed as it won't install with this bios.

I really need help with this. Donations are available from my side of the spectrum! Smile

Be sure you know what your doing if your going to help please. I do NOT want to brick this system. It's the only second one I got.

Please elaborate , unlocking hidden options doesnt effect whether you can install windows 7 or not

Whats stopping you from installing windows 7?

Or are you after a SLIC mod , which is NOT the same as unlocking hidden options

Bios modding is not totally dependent on the skills of the modder. There is always a 50/50 chance that it will brick , and by asking us to mod and flashing our mods , you are agreeing that you understand the risks and are willing to take them. Think long and hard about whether you want a mod or not!

Only when i get these answers will i deal with the request

Hey guys,

I have been taking on Nominators request for about a week. he does want the SLIC 2.1 as well as the unlocked options in one BIOS. I am trying to contact ouasis who was able to have a successful mod with his own bios, as the previous attempts have failed. Now that I can download it from the forums rather then rapidshare, I will be able to respond to this request.

What Wiz said! LOL.

Yah I understand, I just don't want some noobie doing it. It's like me going to change your transmission out of your vehicle... I wouldn't know where to start nor would I want to try.

I would rather one of the bios "gods" do this! Big Grin

I guess a risk is a risk. I understand that.

Guys, this is the new latest mod realeased by me based on the R01-A3.

Please note, I believe people were having flashing issues because unlocking the PC Health status really rocked this bioses boat, so this mod looks REALLY good. Updated on main wiki. This version includes all hidden options and full overclocking options.

Well god [censored]. Thank you!

I am excited and will see if I make this [censored] overclocked or ... I brick it. Oh well if I do. I'll find another computer then! Part of the game!

Thank you WIZ and 1234s282 and the bios mod community!!!!

Amazing work guys!

I'll report back when I get it flashed over. Pray! Heart

It bricked. Using the version 2-3 posts above here.

Black screen.. nothing... Won't beep. I can hear the harddrive power up and stuff but nothing... Sad

Not gonna freak out cause I know this can be fixed.

So apparently when going to Acer's site for the flashing application, there is none listed for the M3100 and m5100 (which are basically the same model). There is one for an AMI utility for both the m3200 and m5200 and above in their respective series.

I was unable to flash using AWFL826b.exe : Unknown Flash Type!!!

Trying to use AFUDOS.EXE: This BIOS does not support AFU

Yeah it was stupid trying to use AFUDOS but thats what ACER told me to do =p. Luckily it wouldn't let me brick my system.

Am about to try to use R01-A3 BIOS in the first post. I have the R01-A1 which was the default BIOS.

Edit:
Bricked system. No boot. No post signal. During flash, it failed to write during the last sequence. I think it was about 4 of those mini-blocks that failed to write. Is there any way to recover from a bricked system without a second motherboard?
