I wait your news. Wink

Flashed it today. The included WINUPTP.EXE refused to do the job as my Lenovo X121e had already BIOS 1.15 installed when shipped..
Startet winflash.exe, chose the $0A8R000.FL1 in the 8RET52WW folder hit 'flash' and it went well..

now I have installed a used Dell WWAN 3G 5550 UMTS with Ericsson chip F5521gw and everything seems to run perfectly!

Thx a lot camiloml!

By the way at Lenovo they already have BIOS 1.16 in download area..
will donate u soon..

Flahsed on a X121e 3045 (Inel i3) and it works perfectly with an OEM Sierra MC8755

Thinkvantage shows Bios version as 1.14

Question
I unfortunately upgraded to BIOS V 1.16 so cannot use the 1.14/1.15 mods. :-(

- BIOS download link from Lenovo (8quj09uc, V1.16): file, iso.
- PCI IDs of existing card (output of hwinfo --netcard) :
Code:
Vendor: pci 0x10ec "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd."
Device: pci 0x8176
SubVendor: pci 0x10ec "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd."
SubDevice: pci 0x8195
- BIOS not RSA signed - to my knowledge. if yes, well that's my risk.
- New WLAN Card should be Azurwave AR5B95, based on the Atheros Wireless chipset.

I would need a bootable *.iso file if possible, as the machine is purely running under Linux.

Thank you very much in advance!

I am "suffering" from almost the same problem - upgraded BIOS to 1.16 before knowing that there is no way back and before I got a WWAN Lenovo F3507g for that machine Sad
The isolating pin-20 trick does not work on the X121e (just tried) so my last hope is a BIOS mod with the added WWAN ID 0BDB:1900 or completely remove WWAN whitelist check.

I would be *very* greatful if someone would do / offer this.

Many Thanks!

Cheers

Hello!
The subject pretty much sais it alread, I am pretty desperately looking a whitelist removal for:

X121e 3051-5YG AMD E-450 BIOS 1.16

I want to use the non-whitelistet Ericsson F3507g WWAN card in it:

ID 0bdb:1900 Ericsson Business Mobile Networks BV F3507g Mobile Broadband Module

The only solution I found by now is a 1.15 version which can pitily not be flashed to a V1.16 device anymore Sad At least I do not know how.

I have pretty thoroughly tried to find all needed tools to do this myself but this really seems to be a non-stright forward process and I fear I could brick it.

So here is my big PLEASE - if someone with experience could either do the whitelist removal or adding the above device for me I would be VERY grateful. Or if someone would guide a little through the tools and process I might try again myself.

I am usually using Linux and the F3507 works *so* nicely on Linux that I really would like to use this card - and I bought it already not knowing about the whitelist - grmpf...

Many thanks in advance for *any* hint how I could overcome the darn whitelist check on the x121e with E450 CPU for the F3507g card.

Cheers

Can you teach us how to mod the bios please so we can mod it ourselves when the new bios become available?

Hi,

I'm trying to install a new WiFi card in my x121e laptop, but I get a blank screen when the card is installed in either of the miniPCIe slots. I guess that this means that the card is not whitelisted, so I'd be very thankful to anyone who could remove the whitelist check from the current BIOS for this laptop.

Here's the download link for the current BIOS: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/download...D=DS019251

Here's my current WiFi card (which obviously is whitelisted):

Code:
01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n [14e4:0576] (rev 01)

Thanks! Smile
