Fantastic, wish I knew how to go about this sort of stuff. Will try giving it a go shortly.

EDIT: Okay, need to do more research, I can't flash it using the DOS flash tool from the Acer bios' and the windows tool obviously includes the bios image in the exe...

EDIT2: I have just found that the windows flash tool can be extracted using 7zip or another zip package for anybody else who wants to try Smile

I can confirm the bios flashed perfectly and the updated logo makes the laptop feel so much more 'fresh'.

Great to see something working though even though it is only AFS and can't wait to see if their will be further progress.

For others who come here with this laptop you may also want to check out updated Nvidia hybrid drivers up to Nvidia v258.49 drivers available here: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/2...t-drivers/

Does the driver you link to work with the hybrid power using the intel and nvidia card so it is possible to turn of the nvidia card? from what I gathered support for the original hybrid stopped at ~v260 drivers and Optimus is a little bit different.

Interesting to see you modded the graphics Bios too, for this you can go the safer option and use NVIDIA System tools and you can set those numbers in software with customizable profiles for overclocking and underclocking if you want to save battery when word processing etc.

Ah, good points. Sounds like some good work Smile I did have my system set up with the nvidia only before my system reinstall but thought I would currently re-approach the 'way it was designed' sort of thing. It does currently limit me to CUDA Toolkit v3.1 though and may go back to nvidia only again at some later stage. Annoyingly with hybrid version of drivers the power saving modes for the intel don't appear to be accessible so may be part of the small saving issue, I haven't looked further into that though.

Interesting work, I am coming back to my old 5935G since I found an interesting graphics card for it.

It originally come with the HD4570, I used it to reflash my HD7970M from my P150EM and then put an FX1800M in, which really is not as good as would first seem.

I have tracked down a card that is either an HD7770M or a unique HD7870M in MXM-A form.

These cards are about on par with the GTX660M so I am pretty pleased, I am also getting a universal slim 120W PSU from coolermaster to give a bit of extra juice.

As with the FX1800 I may still be forced to keep it in dedicated only mode but that GIGANTIC increase in gaming performance should be worth it.

great work! Meaker!!!
FX is a good CAD GPU, but with intel cpu nvidia is the best choice, amd+ati are hardware/driver optimized like intel/nvidia
