My Gateway NV57h has an ACER in BIOS - can I fix this?
#1
Hi Everyone, I'm new here and have an "Is this possible" type question. I bought a used Gateway NV57h laptop on eBay but when it arrived the BIOS has the manufacturer listed as ACER and the model is Aspire 5750. I thought using a Gateway downloaded BIOS would fix it back to Gateway, but it still says Acer (yes, I realize that this is really an Acer in disguise). Anyway, I am thinking that someone has put an ACER motherboard in this machine. Is this fixable using some sort of BIOS mod or is this ACER "hard-wired" into the motherboard itself? Besides the ACER logo on bootup, I find that my "special function" keys don't do what they're supposed to (like brightness up/dn) but rather follow an ACER keyboard layout which isn't quite the same.

Thanks in advance for your comments!
Doug

I have the same question. Did you ever find out? Do you have to flash a different EC?

I have the same problem, just the other way around.
I have a 5750G with a Gateway NV57H PCB. is there hardware solder jumper or the point in the UEFI BIOS file?
