I wasn't all too concerned about the OCing as I went from the 920 to 960 anyway. I was mostly interested in getting the ram to 1600 Mhz and bumping the QPI from 4.8 to 6.4. As I said, I finally built one back in Sept. around an i7 2600k and have it running at 4.4 Ghz at the moment. Getting better than 20,000 with 3D Mark Vantage.

I have a Gateway FX6802 with 12G ram, I7-920, seagate 1tb ... usual blah blah
Bios is AMI P01-A0. From everything I read Gateway is not much on updating Bios versions but this will have to be flashed to get the new 6CPU I7-980x to work. Any idea how difficult it will/would be to have the BIOS written to enable 6CPU on the TBGM01 ?
Thanks in advance and again, I hope I'm in the right forum.
Hi! I need your help!!!
Can you give me your Bios (AMI P01-A0). I forgot to backup my bios, and I had try all the same board of the bios and those were not works. I need to rolll back to the one you have. Please Help...

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm at my wit's end trying to figure this out. I've been running the stock TBGM01 motherboard and as you all know, the BIOS is locked. I care not for overclocking or anything, but I'd simply love to be able to fully utilize the new memory upgrades I've purchased (DDR3-1866). The factory BIOS (R01-A2), Gateway BIOS update (R01-A0), and 1234s282's mod (R01-A0 edited) all don't support memory clocks higher than 1066. Is there some sort of workaround where I'd be able to take advantage of my new memory or am I SOL?

Hi, To my knowledge the Motherboard doesn't support anything above 1600 Mhz, but I may be wrong and it will with an OC. Haven't messed with it for nearly 3 years and it is sitting here on the floor. I have that motherboard in a Gateway FX6800-01e and have upgraded to the 960 processor as well as GTX 560Ti. I don't know how many times I made up the flash drive and could never get it to work. The whole thing was it got locked down to 1066 mhz due to a non existant thermal issue. There was one, but nothing that should have forced the memory to be locked at 1066 Mhz. The Northbridge tended to run extremely hot ( mine hit 110c ). I piut a small fan on the Heatsink over thaqt as well as cleaned off the old Thermal compound that was on it and used some Arctic Silver 5 instead. That cooled it down pretty good. I got fed up and built one arond a Sandy Bridge i7 2600k and have since upgraded to the Haswell i7 4770k and running 2133 Mhz ( that is the sweet spot, anything more than that, you are wasting money for very little return on performance ).

What are your specs on that model such as processor ? I tried to find it, but can't without knowing which country it is in.

Hi, Ok. If I understand, you have upgraded to the i7 950 Processor. You have got it to a little over 3.5 Ghz. Your temp is 71c. That is a little warm as you are not under load. I think I saw something about a new radiator. That could be part of the problem with the temp. Be sure to use a good grade of Thermal Compund and not too much. I went and checked that model ( it was in French ). You are running Vista still? If you are OCing the Processor, then you must be unlocked. If so, you may want to bring the QPI up from 4.8 to 6.4.

Hi. Yes, the QPI is a BiOS option, if the Bios is unlocked and allows you to do it. I was only interested in getting the memory up to speed and raising the QPI. I went from the i7 920 to the i7 960 processor. I made up the Flash drive with the unlocked BiOS, but couldn't flash it for some reason. Usually with the Processor, you have the Base Clock ( BCLK ) that is permanent. The you have the multiplier. You just raise the multiplier. If it gets unstable, you may need a bit more Voltage. This is where you have to be careful as too much voltage, you will have thermal ( Temp ) issues. I have a Gateway that is sitting on the floor and not hooked up at the moment. Can't get Packard Bell Computers over here, but they are owned by the same company, Acer.
